Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is making rapid strides toward self-reliance under the decisive leadership and clear guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. By promoting the food processing industry, the state government has taken solid steps to economically empower women, entrepreneurs, and youth across rural and urban areas. Under the PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME) Scheme, the state has achieved remarkable milestones.
The establishment of 14 incubation centers/common facility centers in Uttar Pradesh, as per the Government of India’s mandate, has been successfully completed. These centers, built at a cost of ₹47 crore, are equipped with state-of-the-art plants and machinery. Their primary aim is to provide employment to rural women and make them self-reliant. It is estimated that these centers will benefit around 15,000 women directly and indirectly.
Empowering Women Through Entrepreneurship
Under CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh is advancing towards self-reliance in the food processing sector. According to the Horticulture and Food Processing Department, the state government has allocated ₹30 crore to support 10,000 self-help group (SHG) women with working capital and small tools. This funding, provided through the State Rural Livelihood Mission and State Urban Livelihood Mission, not only empowers women economically but also fosters their entrepreneurial spirit.
As part of the PM FME Scheme, 46,897 entrepreneurs have registered on the MIS web portal, out of which 32,176 applications have been received. Banks have approved loans for 13,933 projects, with grants ranging from ₹3 lakh to ₹10 lakh. This scheme has attracted an investment of approximately ₹1,500 crore in Uttar Pradesh, creating new employment opportunities in both rural and urban areas. The government’s efforts have generated jobs for around 1 lakh people, strengthening the state’s economy.
Local Products Go Global
CM Yogi Adityanath envisions giving Uttar Pradesh’s local products not just national but global recognition. The initiatives in the food processing sector align with this vision. The incubation and common facility centers will not only enhance production but also improve the quality of products, making them compliant with international standards.
