She has a naturally elegant screen presence: Anjali Phougat on Akanksha Chamola’s style

Mumbai: Actress Akanksha Chamola, who is a participant in the second season of the reality show Lock Upp, has grabbed eyeballs not only because of the secrets that were revealed in the show but also for her unique style. US-based Indian-origin stylist and actor Anjali Phougat believes Akanksha has a unique taste, and her style complements her personality.
Anjali said, “I watched Akanksha Chamola on the show, and from a stylist’s perspective, I think she has a naturally elegant screen presence. She carries understated fashion very well. Rather than overpowering her personality with loud styling, I feel her beauty shines most in clean silhouettes, refined fabrics, and thoughtful details.”

On what works best for Akanksha in terms of colour, she got specific. She said, “Jewel tones elevate her the most. Emerald green, deep wine, sapphire blue, rich teal, and classic black bring out her features beautifully. Softer neutrals like ivory, champagne, beige, and blush also complement her graceful personality. These shades allow her expressions to take centre stage instead of competing with the outfit.”

Anjali also broke down the silhouettes that suit Akanksha’s frame. She said, “Well-tailored sarees, contemporary draped gowns, monochromatic co-ord sets, elegant Anarkalis, and classic Indo-Western pieces suit her frame exceptionally well. She doesn’t need excessive embellishments. Timeless styling speaks louder for her. Minimal jewellery, clean hair, and polished makeup enhance her natural confidence.”

On Akanksha opening up about her divorce and the controversy around it, Anjali said that it takes courage for anyone in the public eye to speak about deeply personal chapters of life. However, she also believes that there should be a distinction between personal matters and public spectacle.

She said, “Divorce is a personal choice and a personal matter. It is shocking that actors, just for a reality show, end up speaking about everything personal, and that becomes a social media tamasha. Who are we to judge? But surely audiences shouldn’t be fooled with fake information. People often present a picture-perfect, lovey-dovey, happy life, and then suddenly one fine day announce that the relationship is over. That naturally leaves everyone confused.”

She added, “While public figures naturally receive attention and opinions, I believe none of us truly knows the complete story behind a relationship except the people living it. Every difficult chapter has the potential to become a journey of self-discovery and growth. Instead of judging, I prefer to appreciate authenticity and wish people healing, peace, and the freedom to rebuild their lives with dignity.”

Anjali closed with a thought that tied fashion and character together. She said, “Fashion can transform how someone looks, but character is what leaves a lasting impression. Confidence, resilience, kindness, and authenticity are always the most beautiful things a person can wear.”
