Roses Bloom Bright Despite 40°C Heat at LDA’s Rose Garden

Nature Enthusiasts Gather at Janeshwar Mishra Park to Celebrate National Red Rose Day

Lucknow: While scorching summer temperatures continue to hover above 40 degrees Celsius across Uttar Pradesh, an extraordinary display of blooming roses at the Rose Garden in Janeshwar Mishra Park has become a source of admiration for visitors and environmental enthusiasts alike.

On the occasion of National Red Rose Day, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) organized a special event titled “The Red Revival” at the Rose Garden on Friday. The event attracted young people, artists, women, social activists, and environmentally conscious citizens who came together to celebrate nature and appreciate the beauty of thousands of blooming roses despite the intense summer heat.

Participants explored the sprawling garden and captured photographs of the diverse rose varieties flourishing in full bloom. The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage citizens to contribute to the preservation of green spaces in the city.

LDA Vice-Chairman Prathamesh Kumar said that the Rose Garden at Janeshwar Mishra Park is the second-largest rose garden in India. Spread across 15 acres, the garden is home to more than 2,200 varieties of roses and over 10,000 rose plants.

He highlighted that the remarkable condition of the roses, even during peak summer, is the result of scientific irrigation systems and modern horticultural management practices adopted by the authority. These techniques have helped maintain the quality, health, and visual appeal of the flowers despite extreme weather conditions.

The event also featured an interactive session led by LDA Horticulture Officer Shashi Kumar Bharti, who explained modern plantation and irrigation techniques to visitors. He emphasized the importance of sustainable gardening practices and informed participants about methods that can help conserve water while maintaining healthy plant growth.

As part of the programme, attendees were encouraged to take a pledge towards environmental conservation and were urged to actively participate in tree plantation drives and other green initiatives. Organizers stressed that collective public participation is essential for preserving urban biodiversity and creating a healthier environment for future generations.

Visitors praised the Lucknow Development Authority’s efforts in maintaining the Rose Garden and described the initiative as a significant step towards strengthening Lucknow’s identity as a green and environmentally conscious city.

The vibrant blooms, set against the backdrop of intense summer heat, stood as a testament to effective horticultural planning and the city’s commitment to preserving its natural beauty.
