Lucknow: Devotees at the ongoing Ganeshotsav of “Manautiyon Ke Raja” gathered for the traditional worship of Lord Ganesha’s revered weapon, Pashankush, at Jhulelal Vatika near Hanuman Setu on Wednesday.
The puja was conducted according to traditional rituals by priests from Ayodhya and Varanasi, who performed the ceremonies with Vedic chants. Committee patron Bharat Bhushan Gupta, president Ghanshyam Agrawal, councillor Ranjit Singh, Jai Karan Singh, Akhilesh Bansal, Sanjay Singh Gandhi, Gopal Agrawal and Sudhanshu Batham, along with several women members and a large number of devotees, participated in the worship.
Bharat Bhushan Gupta explained the religious significance associated with Pashankush, saying it is regarded as one of Lord Ganesha’s symbolic weapons. According to traditional belief, devotees who seek its protection receive the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
The evening programme featured performances by well-known Kolkata-based director Sanjay Sharma and his team. Patriotic songs and dance performances created an enthusiastic atmosphere among devotees. A special devotional jam session aimed at young people was also organised, featuring bhajans including “Bhaj Man Narayan” and “Shri Krishna Govind”.
The programme concluded with the staging of the dance-drama “Narsi Ka Bhat”. The emotional presentation depicted the story of Lord Krishna arriving with Goddess Rukmini to fulfil the ceremonial obligations of a devotee after hearing his heartfelt prayer. The performance moved several devotees.
Committee patron Bharat Bhushan Gupta said a Maha Abhishek would be held at noon on September 24, followed by the offering of a 108-kg Mahamodak at 8 pm. The Mahamodak will be offered to Lord Ganesha before being distributed among devotees during the immersion procession on September 25.
