Women and Adolescent Girls Educated on Legal Rights, Emergency Helplines and Online Safety Measures
Lucknow: As part of the ongoing Mission Shakti Phase 5.0 campaign, Janakipuram Police in Lucknow organized a Bahu-Beti Sammelan in Muslim Nagar Ward to raise awareness about women’s safety, empowerment, legal rights, and cyber security. The programme was conducted under the women’s safety and empowerment initiative being implemented by the Uttar Pradesh Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and in accordance with directions issued by senior officers of the Lucknow Police Commissionerate.
The awareness programme focused on educating women and adolescent girls about personal safety, legal protections, government support services, and measures to safeguard themselves from emerging cyber threats.
Awareness on Women’s Rights and Safety
During the conference, police officials interacted with participants and provided detailed information on preventing crimes against women, understanding legal rights, and accessing emergency assistance during times of need.
The gathering emphasized the importance of women’s safety, dignity, and self-reliance while encouraging participants to report crimes and seek timely assistance whenever required.
Information on Emergency Helplines
Officials explained the significance and usage of various helpline services available for women, children, and citizens, including:
- 1098 – Child Helpline
- 1090 – Women Power Line
- 181 – Women Helpline
- 1076 – Chief Minister Helpline
- 1930 – Cyber Fraud Helpline
- 112 – Emergency Response Service
- 108 – Ambulance Service
Participants were encouraged to make use of these services whenever necessary and to spread awareness about them within their communities.
Cyber Crime Prevention Takes Centre Stage
Recognizing the growing threat of cybercrime, police personnel also conducted a detailed awareness session on digital safety and cyber fraud prevention.
Women and young girls were informed about common online scams, including financial fraud, phishing links, fake websites, deceptive messages, and the dangers of sharing OTPs and personal information with unknown individuals.

Officials advised participants to exercise caution while using social media platforms, online payment systems, and digital communication channels. They also highlighted the importance of maintaining strong online security practices and protecting personal data.
In cases of cyber fraud or suspicious online activity, citizens were urged to immediately contact the Cyber Fraud Helpline at 1930 and file complaints through the designated cybercrime reporting portal.
Distribution of Awareness Material
To strengthen public outreach, Mission Shakti and cyber security awareness pamphlets were distributed among women and adolescent girls attending the programme. Participants were encouraged to share the information with family members, neighbours, and friends to help create a safer and more informed community.
Continued Focus on Women’s Empowerment
Officials stated that the Lucknow Police Commissionerate has been regularly organizing such awareness programmes under Mission Shakti to promote women’s safety, dignity, and empowerment. The initiative aims to ensure that every woman and girl is aware of her rights, available support systems, and mechanisms for seeking help in emergencies.
