Gonda: In a major success under its ongoing crime control and public service drive, the Gonda Police has recovered 251 lost mobile phones and returned them to their rightful owners. The total estimated value of the recovered devices is around ₹51 lakh, officials said.

Major Breakthrough in Recovery Drive

The operation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal. The joint effort of the district police and surveillance cell, supervised by Additional SP (East) Ajit Kumar Rajak and Additional SP (West) Radheshyam Rai, led to the successful recovery.

The seized mobile phones included devices from leading brands such as Apple, Samsung, Vivo, Oppo, Tecno, Redmi, and OnePlus.

695 Mobiles Recovered So Far in 2025

According to the Superintendent of Police, a total of 695 lost mobile phones have been recovered and returned to their owners so far in 2025. This reflects the growing efficiency and technical capability of the police force.

CEIR Portal Plays Key Role

The recovery was made possible through continuous monitoring of the CEIR Portal, a Government of India initiative that helps track and block lost or stolen mobile devices. The coordinated effort between surveillance teams and local police stations enabled successful tracing of the devices, which were handed over to their owners on May 3, 2026.

Strong Coordination at Police Station Level

Police teams across multiple stations—including Kotwali Nagar, Kotwali Dehat, Kharagpur, Itiyathok, Tarabganj, Nawabganj, Wazirganj, Umri Begumganj, Motiganj, Colonelganj, Katrabazar, Kaudia, Parsapur, Dhanepur, Mankapur, Chhapia, and Khodare—played a crucial role in the operation. The nodal surveillance team also made significant contributions.

Public Appreciation and Advisory

Citizens expressed gratitude after receiving their lost phones, praising the police for their prompt and effective action. Officials stated that such initiatives help strengthen public trust in law enforcement.

Police also urged citizens to download the Sanchar Saathi app and immediately report lost phones with details such as IMEI number, bill, Aadhaar card, and ID proof at the nearest police station, as well as on the CEIR portal.

Reward for Outstanding Work

Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal announced that members of the surveillance team and mobile recovery units involved in the successful operation will be rewarded for their commendable performance.

The achievement highlights the increasing use of technology in policing and reinforces the department’s commitment to citizen-centric service.
