Bareilly: A meeting with sugarcane farmers from Baheri tehsil was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the chairmanship of Bareilly District Magistrate Avinash Singh on Tuesday. The meeting focused on addressing farmers’ concerns and discussing issues related to sugarcane payments and the future of the local sugar mill.
During the interaction, the District Magistrate sought detailed information from farmers about their problems, expectations and demands. He directed the concerned officials to take appropriate steps for the timely resolution of the issues raised by the farmers.
The farmers requested that school fees for their children and bank loan instalments be waived until their pending sugarcane payments are cleared following the auction of Kesar Sugar Mill.
Officials informed the meeting that extensive publicity would be undertaken for the re-auction of Kesar Sugar Mill to attract more prospective bidders and ensure better value. Pamphlets will be printed and distributed, while advertisements will be carried through newspapers and other publicity platforms. Hoardings will also be installed at major entry points to Bareilly district, with promotional efforts extended to areas outside the district and Uttar Pradesh to encourage wider participation in the auction process.
The District Magistrate urged farmers to support the administration by spreading information about the auction among potential investors. He also directed officials to ensure cleanliness around the sugar mill and undertake tree pruning so that prospective bidders can properly assess the utility and condition of the land and premises.
Farmers also requested that an advance plan be prepared specifying the sugar mills to which sugarcane from the Baheri Sugar Mill area would be diverted. They said such a plan would help prevent inconvenience to farmers during the upcoming crushing season.
Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Santosh Kumar Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Baheri Gopal Sharma, the Tehsildar of Baheri, Deputy Cane Commissioner, District Cane Officer, farmers and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
