Lucknow/Prayagraj: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya undertook an extensive visit to Prayagraj, engaging in a series of programmes dedicated to public welfare, sports promotion, and social interaction. During his visit, he met public representatives, eminent personalities from sports, social and academic fields, as well as members of the general public.
The Deputy Chief Minister visited the residence of former councillor Jagmohan Gupta following the demise of his brother, where he met the bereaved family and expressed his condolences. He prayed for the peace of the departed soul and strength for the family to bear the loss.
Interaction with Sports Community
As part of his outreach, Maurya interacted with young athletes, coaches, and sports officials in Prayagraj, discussing the development of sports infrastructure, facilities available for players, and future opportunities in the sector.
He stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continuous efforts are being made to promote sports talent and provide world-class facilities to athletes. He highlighted that initiatives like the “Khelo India” programme have significantly strengthened the country’s sports culture, enabling Indian athletes to excel at international platforms and bring glory to the nation.
He further added that the Uttar Pradesh government is consistently working to promote sports talent by providing better training, resources, and opportunities, aiming to position the state as a leading hub for sports excellence.
Participation of Eminent Sports Personalities
The interaction was attended by several prominent figures including BJP Metropolitan President Sanjay Gupta, BJP District President Rajesh Shukla, Nirmala Paswan, renowned basketball player R.S. Bedi, celebrated badminton player Abhinav Shyam Gupta, and international chess player Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, among others.

Religious and Cultural Engagements
The Deputy Chief Minister also visited the residence of former Additional Advocate General Neeraj Tripathi, where he welcomed and honoured pilgrims who had completed the sacred Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. He described the pilgrimage as a symbol of India’s spiritual heritage, devotion, and Sanatan cultural tradition.
In another engagement under his public outreach programme, Maurya visited the residence of Abhishek Tiwari, Director of Shambhunath Group of Institutions, where he interacted warmly with family members and local residents, discussing regional issues and strengthening community relations.
Emphasis on Public Participation
Highlighting the purpose of his outreach initiative, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the objective of such programmes is to directly engage with different sections of society, understand their expectations and suggestions, and ensure their active participation in the development journey.
He reiterated that Uttar Pradesh is steadily progressing on the path of development, good governance, and public welfare, adding that collective participation of citizens is essential to realizing the vision of a developed Uttar Pradesh.
