Lucknow: A bike rally was organised in Lucknow on the occasion of the 11th Ayurveda Day to spread awareness about Ayurveda and promote healthy living. The rally, held on the theme “Ayurveda for a Healthy Future,” was flagged off by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak from 1090 Chauraha. It proceeded towards Janeshwar Mishra Park.
Addressing the gathering, Pathak described Ayurveda as an important part of India’s rich and ancient medical tradition and said it continues to have relevance in promoting a healthy and disease-free lifestyle. He said Ayurveda is closely linked with everyday life and traditional practices, including the use of various spices and food products in Indian kitchens.
Pathak said the growing interest in Ayurveda in several countries reflected its expanding global relevance. He urged people to begin promoting awareness about Ayurveda within their families and communities and contribute to the vision of a healthy and empowered India.
AYUSH Minister of State (Independent Charge) Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’ said Ayurveda is not merely a system of treatment but a comprehensive way of life focused on maintaining health. He said the tradition has been part of Indian society for centuries and continues to be practised in various forms.
Mishra said significant institutional efforts have been undertaken since 2014 to promote Ayurveda and traditional systems of medicine. He added that interest in Ayurveda and traditional healthcare practices increased during the COVID-19 period.
He stressed the importance of scientific research to establish and strengthen the evidence base for Ayurveda. According to him, more than 40 institutions in the country are engaged in research related to Ayurveda and allied subjects. He said modern research and scientific evidence can help make Ayurveda more accessible and relevant to the wider population.
The rally also highlighted the objectives of Ayurveda Day, the relevance of Ayurveda and the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle practices.
Principal Secretary, AYUSH, Ranjan Kumar, Director General AYUSH and Director, AYUSH Mission, Gauri Shankar Priyadarshi, Special Secretary AYUSH Madan Singh Garbyal, Ayurveda Director Dr Narayan Das, Homoeopathy Director Pramod Kumar Singh and Unani Director Prof Jamal Akhtar, along with AYUSH students and departmental officials, attended the programme.
