Bangladesh turmoil does not bode well for India – CDS Anil Chauhan

New Delhi: India’s Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan has expressed concern for the first time over the instability created in Bangladesh after the anti-reservation movement started against Sheikh Hasina. He has expressed concern over the unrest in Bangladesh, the growing tension with Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir and the ongoing border dispute with China. CDS Chauhan said that despite the three-year deadlock with China, our borders in the east and north are lively. Therefore, unrest in neighboring country Bangladesh is definitely a matter of concern for India as well.

Reacted for the first time

CDS General Anil Chauhan was addressing a conference on military ammunition in Delhi. After former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh and came to India, there is an atmosphere of chaos there, which has now taken a communal color. Hindus as well as other minorities are being selectively targeted, who are now trying to migrate to India from the northeastern border, but the Border Security Force is foiling infiltration by sending them back to Bangladesh.

The Indian Army and BSF are on high alert on the nearly 4000 km long border of Bangladesh adjoining India. The concern of India’s CDS General Anil Chauhan on the current situation in Bangladesh is considered very important. Amidst the chaos in the neighborhood, for the first time, General Anil Chauhan said that unrest in the neighborhood is a matter of concern.

India is facing two big challenges: CDS

Expressing concern over the border tension with China and Pakistan, he said that we are already in a proxy war with Pakistan, which has now started south of Pir Panjal. Apart from this, we have been in a deadlock with China on the northern border for three years. We have live borders with neighboring countries, so now the unrest in Bangladesh is definitely a matter of concern for India as well.

Chief of Defense Staff of the Indian Armed Forces Anil Chauhan said that in view of the change of power in Bangladesh, there is already tension on the borders with other countries. India already has security challenges, out of which now Pakistan’s proxy war is suddenly seen spreading to the Pir Panjal range of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that the long-standing border dispute with China is not over yet. Thus we are facing two major security challenges, now the instability in our neighbor Bangladesh is another cause of concern for us. The CDS said that a huge country like India cannot fight a war with so many security problems and cannot depend on foreign imports for its livelihood.
