Mumbai: Following the worldwide success of RRR and growing international recognition, Ram Charan has chosen a strikingly different path with his upcoming film Peddi — a raw, rooted rural drama that reconnects him with the cultural landscape that shaped his identity.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film moves away from polished spectacle and embraces an emotionally intense world grounded in village life, labour, and survival. From the very first glimpse, Ram Charan’s rugged transformation has drawn attention. Replacing the regal aura associated with RRR is a physically worn, mud-covered character shaped by hardship and resilience.
Speaking about the project, Ram Charan said the authenticity of the story deeply resonated with him. He explained that the people, emotions, and environment portrayed in Peddi felt familiar and reminded him of the culture and soil he has always carried within himself.
Industry insiders reveal that the actor paid close attention to preserving the dialect, body language, and emotional texture of the character. Several portions of the film were reportedly shot in difficult outdoor conditions to maintain realism and capture the earthy atmosphere envisioned by the director.

The film arrives at a time when audiences are increasingly responding to culturally rooted storytelling over generic pan-India narratives. With imagery inspired by village cricket, wrestling arenas, mud fields, and emotionally charged rural life, Peddi strongly embraces Telugu nativity instead of diluting it for broader commercial appeal.
Ram Charan believes this specificity is what gives the story universal emotional power. According to him, global audiences connect more deeply when stories remain honest to their roots. That philosophy appears to define Peddi — a film that presents one of the biggest stars in Indian cinema in his most grounded and emotionally intimate role yet.
