Mumbai’s National Cricket Club Launches Talent Hunt to Nurture Young Cricketers

Three-day trials from October 26 to 28 to identify 20 players aged 16–23 for sponsored coaching and competitive cricket opportunities

Mumbai: The National Cricket Club (NCC), Mumbai, has announced a three-day cricket talent identification programme from October 26 to 28, 2026, at its grounds at Cross Maidan, Marine Lines, Mumbai. The initiative aims to discover promising young cricketers who have the potential to excel but lack access to professional coaching and quality training facilities.

Under the programme, 20 selected players will receive sponsored coaching, access to the club’s cricketing infrastructure and opportunities to develop their skills and pursue competitive cricket.

The selected players will be trained by coaches and staff certified by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). They will also gain access to NCC facilities for regular practice and skill development, along with opportunities to visit international cricket clubs for exposure and learning.

The initiative seeks to provide a pathway for talented players to compete in prestigious MCA tournaments, including the Mumbai T20 League, and pursue higher-level opportunities in domestic cricket, potentially including the Ranji Trophy and, in the longer term, the Indian team.

Rajdip Gupta, President of the National Cricket Club and Chairman of the Mumbai T20 League Governing Council, said India’s cricketing culture could grow stronger through greater inclusivity and wider access to professional development.

“Through this Talent Hunt, we want to identify promising cricketers who may not have access to these opportunities and give them the support and guidance to develop their potential,” Gupta said. He expressed confidence that the programme would create meaningful pathways for young players to progress in the sport.

Players interested in participating must report directly to the venue at 8 am on Monday, October 26, 2026.

The initiative is supported by SanRaj Group, a diversified business group with interests across multiple sectors. Through its association with NCC, the group aims to contribute to cricket development by expanding access to training facilities, professional coaching and resources for emerging talent.

The programme seeks to help young cricketers overcome barriers to development and build a foundation for pursuing opportunities in the competitive game.
