Arnavi Pathak Clinches Double Crown at Kiran Agrawal Memorial Lucknow District Badminton Championship

Lucknow: Arnavi Pathak emerged as the star performer at the Kiran Agrawal Memorial Lucknow District Badminton Championship, clinching two titles in the girls’ U-15 and U-17 singles categories. Abhijay Singh, Sanchi Singh and Tathastu Rai also secured double crowns in their respective categories.

Organised by the Lucknow Badminton Association under the aegis of the Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association at the BBD UP Badminton Academy in Gomti Nagar, the championship concluded on Sunday with exciting finals across various age groups.

Top seed Arnavi defeated second seed Megan Prakash 14-16, 15-11, 15-8 in a thrilling three-game final to win the girls’ U-15 singles title. She subsequently overcame Megan 15-9, 15-8 in the U-17 singles final to complete her double triumph.

In the boys’ U-11 singles final, top seed Abhijay Singh defeated second seed Tejas Pratap Singh 6-15, 15-11, 15-10. Abhijay teamed up with Tejas to win the U-11 boys’ doubles title, defeating Shivam Verma and Yasharth Singh 15-11, 11-15, 15-11.

Sanchi Singh also claimed two titles, winning the girls’ U-15 doubles with Sara Ali and the U-15 mixed doubles with Preet Raj. The pair of Sanchi and Sara defeated Abhisarika Singh and Saanvi Shukla 15-9, 15-6, while Preet and Sanchi beat Anvay Maurya and Prashasti Sharma 15-12, 15-6.

In the boys’ U-17 category, top seed Tathastu Rai defeated Sarthak Yadav 15-7, 15-6 in the singles final. He partnered Megan Prakash to win the U-17 mixed doubles title, overcoming Raghav Srivastava and Sanchi Singh 15-7, 15-12.

Other winners included Kimaya Singh in girls’ U-11 singles, Sarthak Yadav in boys’ U-15 singles, Saanvi Kumar in girls’ U-13 singles and Akshat Shukla in boys’ U-13 singles. Ashwat Mishra and Ayushman Verma won the boys’ U-15 doubles, while Arinjay Singh and Loniban Pave claimed the boys’ U-17 doubles title.

In the U-13 categories, Shivansh Saxena and Shreyansh Mishra won the boys’ doubles, while Anayika and Prashasti Sharma secured the girls’ doubles crown.

Viraj Sagar Das, president of the Uttar Pradesh Badminton Association, presented trophies and awards to the winners and runners-up at the closing ceremony. Association secretary Dr Sudharma Singh, organising committee chief patron Akash Agrawal, Lucknow Badminton Association president Ram Mohan Agrawal and treasurer Sandeep Agrawal were also present to encourage the players.

Chief referee Ajay Kumar, Dr Anurag Dixit, Abhijit Yadav, Mukesh Srivastava, Gopal Krishna Srivastava, Naveen Patel and Preeti Singh were among the other dignitaries present at the ceremony.
