Lucknow: Mohanlalganj police have arrested a 37-year-old man for allegedly preparing forged documents and cheating a woman in connection with a proposed land sale. The accused, identified as Sunil Kumar, a resident of Hasanpur under Nagarams police station area, was arrested on the basis of technical and manual evidence and information developed through police sources.
According to police, a complaint was lodged by Guddi, a resident of Vrindavan Yojana, alleging that the accused and others took money from her on the pretext of executing a sale deed for a piece of land. However, the deed was allegedly not executed despite receiving the payment. When she demanded her money back, the accused allegedly abused her and threatened her with harm to her life and property.

Following the complaint, police registered Case No. 405/2025 at Mohanlalganj police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections related to cheating, forgery, criminal intimidation and conspiracy.
The police team, led by Mohanlalganj Inspector Ram Babu Singh, traced and arrested Sunil Kumar after analysing technical and manual evidence. He was subsequently produced before the court for further legal proceedings.

Police said two other accused in the case, Salik Ram, a resident of Ahmadpur Azam Ali village, Nagarams, and Sangeeta Devi, wife of Salik Ram, had earlier been sent to judicial custody on April 6 and July 12, 2026, respectively.
The arrest was carried out under the supervision of Lucknow Police Commissioner Tarun Gaba, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime and Headquarters) Aparna Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Mohd Mushtaq, Additional DCP (South) Rallapalli Vasanth Kumar and ACP Mohanlalganj Rajesh Kumar Singh.
