Lucknow: Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and dignity at the School of Management Sciences (SMS), Lucknow, on September 5, marking the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the eminent Indian philosopher, educationist, statesman and former President of India. The programme was organised by the office-bearers of the Abhivyakti Club.
Addressing the gathering, Sharad Singh, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, extended warm Teachers’ Day greetings to all faculty members, officers and employees. He emphasised the importance of discharging teaching and institutional responsibilities with utmost dedication, commitment and a strong sense of purpose.

Dr. Bharat Raj Singh, Director General, paid respectful tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and recalled his remarkable life and invaluable contribution to the field of education. He observed that Dr. Radhakrishnan’s life and philosophy continue to serve as a source of inspiration for teachers.
Dr. Singh highlighted that in today’s technology-driven and rapidly changing world, the role of a teacher is no longer confined to imparting knowledge. A teacher must also serve as a guide, mentor, motivator, role model and catalyst for change, contributing meaningfully to the holistic development of students.
He further stated that an excellent teacher is one who remains a lifelong learner, nurtures curiosity and creativity among students, prepares them to face challenges with confidence, and inculcates not only knowledge but also ethical values, discipline and a sense of social responsibility. He called upon the faculty to imbibe the ideals of Dr. Radhakrishnan and make education a powerful instrument of nation-building. He also shared the guiding principles for becoming an exemplary teacher.
Dr. Ashish Bhatnagar, Director, in his characteristic jolly and humorous style, recalled various experiences associated with the institution and emphasised the importance of continuous improvement, introspection and refinement in institutional functioning.

Dr. Dharmendra Singh, Associate Director, described teachers as the mirror of society and observed that a teacher’s personality, conduct and values have a profound influence on the future of students.
The celebration was attended by Dr. Jagdish Singh, Director (Administration); Dr. P.K. Singh, Dean–Student Welfare; Dr. Mohammad Hussain, Dean–Engineering; Rahul Awasthi, Deputy General Manager; and S.N. Shukla, Registrar, along with more than 200 faculty members, officers and employees of the institution.
On the occasion, information regarding the promotion of teachers, officers and employees who had demonstrated outstanding performance, dedication and efficiency in the discharge of their responsibilities, in accordance with the institutional rules and regulations, was also shared.
The celebration became even more enthusiastic and memorable when Sharad Singh presented gifts to the faculty members and employees present on the occasion.
The celebration function concluded with an expression of respect and gratitude towards the teaching fraternity and a reaffirmation of the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, ethical values, quality education and the holistic development of students.
