AIIMS Raebareli Marks Fourth Foundation Day of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department

Raebareli: The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at AIIMS Raebareli celebrated its fourth foundation day on September 2, marking four years since the department began services in the labour room in 2022. The occasion brought together the institute’s leadership, senior faculty members, senior and junior residents, nursing officers and staff to celebrate the department’s progress and reaffirm its commitment to excellence in women’s healthcare, medical education, training and research.

Prof. Parul Sinha, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, highlighted the department’s remarkable growth over the past four years. From an initial outpatient attendance of around 15 patients a day, the department now caters to approximately 300 patients daily. The sharp rise in patient footfall reflects growing public confidence in the healthcare services provided by AIIMS Raebareli and the department’s expanding role in meeting the healthcare needs of women in the region. Over the past four years, the department has significantly expanded its clinical services, developing expertise in the management of high-risk pregnancies, complicated obstetric cases, advanced gynaecological procedures and minimally invasive surgeries.

Alongside clinical care, the department has strengthened its contribution to postgraduate medical education, academic activities and research. AIIMS Raebareli Executive Director and CEO Prof. Amita Jain congratulated the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department on completing four years of dedicated service. She appreciated the department’s achievements and encouraged its faculty and staff to continue providing high-quality, comprehensive healthcare to women while striving for greater excellence in clinical care, education and research.

Sharma, former professor at AIIMS New Delhi, delivered an informative lecture on “Genital Tuberculosis.” Prof. Uma Singh, former Professor and Head of Queen Mary’s Hospital at KGMU, Lucknow, spoke on the management of Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia (CIN). Renowned Lucknow-based gynaecologist and IVF specialist Dr Anchal Garg and Dr Richa Rathauria, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at HIMS, Ataria, also delivered expert lectures during the programme. Senior residents, junior residents and nursing officers were honoured during the event for their academic achievements, professional excellence, dedication and contribution to patient care and departmental activities.

The awards recognised the important role played by healthcare professionals in strengthening clinical services and maintaining high standards of patient care. The department said it remains committed to further strengthening its clinical services, academic programmes and research initiatives. Its long-term objective is to establish itself as a centre of excellence in women’s healthcare and make a meaningful contribution towards improving maternal and reproductive health outcomes in the region.

The department’s progress has been driven by the coordinated efforts of Prof. Parul Sinha and faculty members including Dr Vandana Verma, Dr Banshree Nath, Dr Apla Priyadarshini, Dr Snehlata Meena and Dr Krishna Singh.
