Gonda: Chief Development Officer (CDO) conducted a surprise inspection of various government offices housed in the Development Bhawan in Gonda and ordered action against employees found absent from duty.
During the inspection, offices of the Fisheries Department, Animal Husbandry Department, Rural Engineering Department, Panchayati Raj Department, Panchayat Local, Jal Jeevan Mission, Land Conservation, Social Welfare, Programme Department, Minority Welfare Department, District Economics and Statistics Office and the Project Officer, DUDA, among others, were inspected.
A total of six employees were found absent during the inspection. In addition, all employees of the Project Officer, DUDA office were found absent.
Expressing strong displeasure over the absence, the CDO directed that one day’s salary of all employees found absent be withheld. The concerned officials were also instructed to ensure strict compliance with office timings and discipline.
CDO Expresses Concern Over Cleanliness
The inspection also revealed shortcomings in cleanliness across several offices and toilets in the Development Bhawan. The CDO expressed dissatisfaction over the condition and directed officials to take immediate corrective measures.
The lighting arrangements in the corridors of the Development Bhawan were also found to be below the required standard. The CDO directed the concerned officials to improve the lighting व्यवस्था and ensure adequate illumination throughout the premises.
An old and dilapidated cupboard was also found lying in the verandah next to the District Panchayati Raj Officer’s office. Taking note of the situation, the CDO instructed officials to remove old and unnecessary furniture and organise it properly in the appropriate rooms.
The District Panchayati Raj Officer was specifically directed to ensure regular and effective cleaning of all toilets and the entire Development Bhawan premises. Officials were also asked to remove unused cupboards and other unnecessary material from corridors and verandahs to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
Strict Compliance with Office Discipline
The CDO directed all departmental officials to give priority to cleanliness, lighting and other basic facilities outside their respective offices.
Emphasising the importance of a professional work environment, the CDO said officers, employees and members of the public visiting the Development Bhawan should have access to a clean, organised and functional environment.
The CDO made it clear that negligence in attendance, office discipline and cleanliness would not be tolerated. Officials were instructed to monitor the arrangements within the Development Bhawan regularly and ensure that shortcomings are addressed without delay.
The inspection was also aimed at improving the overall functioning of government offices and ensuring that citizens visiting the Development Bhawan receive better and more efficient services.
Officials present during the inspection included the District Development Officer, Deputy Commissioner (Labour and Employment), District Social Welfare Officer and other concerned officers.
