Bareilly: Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University in Bareilly is organizing a three-day National Sports Day campaign from August 28 to 30, 2026, under the theme “Khelo India, Jitega Bharat” (Play India, India Will Win) to commemorate National Sports Day. The event is being held at the university’s Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Sports Complex.
Organized under directives from the Governor/Chancellor and as part of the Government of India’s Fit India campaign, the program’s central focus is “One Hour in the Sports Field.” Through this initiative, the university is encouraging teachers, non-teaching staff, and students to engage in at least one hour of sports and physical activities daily.

First Day Activities
On the first day of the three-day event, badminton and yoga activities were organized, with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and administrative staff. Participants displayed exceptional enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the proceedings.
Upcoming Events
Over the coming days, various sports competitions including badminton, basketball, volleyball, athletics, and football will be organized. Faculty members and non-teaching staff will participate alongside students. To ensure maximum participation in competitions, various departments of the university have also been encouraged to take part.
Sports as Character Building
University Sports Secretary Prof. S.S. Bedi stated that “Khelo India, Badhega India” is not merely a slogan but a commitment to building a healthy, disciplined, and empowered generation of youth. The university’s Sports Complex continuously strives to ensure that students engage not only in academics but also participate regularly in sports and physical activities.

Sports provide students with healthy bodies along with discipline, leadership, teamwork spirit, confidence, and a sense of positive competition. He expressed gratitude to members of the Sports Committee and all university coaches for their cooperation and active participation in making the event successful. He added that the entire team is continuously working to connect students with sports and promote regular sporting activities within the university campus.

Through this three-day event, the university campus is spreading the message of sports, health, discipline, and teamwork while inspiring students to incorporate sports into their daily lives.
