Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati has called on the Centre and state governments to avoid political confrontation during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament and take stringent measures to curb recurring examination paper leaks, saying the issue has created deep uncertainty among students and job aspirants.
In a series of posts on social media platform X, Mayawati said the prevailing political, economic, and social situation in the country requires restraint and constructive dialogue rather than confrontation in Parliament or on the streets.
“As the Monsoon Session of Parliament begins, there is a possibility of confrontation in Parliament, on the streets, and at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over several pressing issues. Given the country’s current circumstances, such situations should be handled with wisdom and avoided,” she said.
The BSP chief expressed concern over repeated paper leaks and alleged irregularities in national and state-level examinations, including medical entrance tests and recruitment examinations. She said repeated cancellations and uncertainty surrounding these examinations have caused widespread distress among students, unemployed youth, and their families.
Describing the issue as one of national importance, Mayawati urged governments to take immediate and effective action to eliminate examination-related irregularities. She also demanded that accountability be fixed and that officials responsible for lapses, including those occupying senior positions in examination bodies, face strict legal consequences.
She said restoring confidence in the examination system is essential to safeguarding the future of the country’s youth.
Mayawati also highlighted the growing dependence on private schools and coaching institutes in states such as Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Delhi, attributing the trend to the inadequate quality of education in many government schools. She observed that despite rising inflation, families continue to make significant financial sacrifices to provide better educational opportunities for their children.
The BSP leader said many young people aspire to secure stable and dignified employment instead of low-paying outsourced jobs and called their determination commendable.
While advocating stricter oversight of coaching institutes to ensure transparency and eliminate corruption, Mayawati stressed that governments must prioritise strengthening the public education system at every level, from primary education to higher studies, through adequate funding and improved quality.
She argued that education remains the foundation of national development and said investments in a strong public education system are essential for building a prosperous society and securing the future of families, states, and the country.
Referring to ongoing youth protests over examination-related issues, Mayawati said timely and sincere government intervention could help prevent such agitations. She urged authorities to adopt a sympathetic approach towards students and address their concerns through meaningful reforms rather than confrontation.
