Purification Ritual at Ayodhya Ram Temple Concludes Today; Devotee Visits Continue Uninterrupted

Ayodhya: A week-long special purification and atonement ritual at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya is set to conclude with a Purnahuti (final oblation), marking the completion of a series of religious ceremonies conducted to reaffirm the temple’s sanctity.

Religious activities began early in the morning, with the concluding ceremony scheduled at the temple’s Yajna Kund. Members of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, including Mahant Dinendra Das, are expected to participate in the final offering.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahant Dinendra Das said that all arrangements for worship and darshan at the temple have continued smoothly throughout the ritual period. He emphasized that devotees have not faced any inconvenience and that the number of visitors has remained steady, with a significant increase on Friday due to the Purnima (full moon).

“The temple is functioning normally, and devotees are able to offer prayers and have darshan without any disruption,” he said, adding that special religious observances have drawn large numbers of pilgrims to Ayodhya.

Mahant Dinendra Das also highlighted the importance of preserving Ayodhya’s traditional religious customs. He noted that, in keeping with the Vaishnav tradition, special worship of Lord Shiva was performed as part of the rituals dedicated to Lord Ram. Saints and seers from Ayodhya also participated in the ceremonies.

The special purification ritual was organised following reports of alleged irregularities related to offerings and donations at the temple. The ceremonies were intended to restore the spiritual sanctity of the shrine through prescribed religious practices.

During the week-long observance, priests conducted daily recitations of the Valmiki Ramayana, while the Vishnu Sahasranama was chanted at least 251 times. Approximately 70 Vedic scholars and local saints participated in the religious programme.

With the Purnahuti scheduled for Friday, the temple concludes the special ritual while continuing regular worship and public darshan without interruption for the thousands of devotees visiting Ayodhya.
