Bareilly: The Department of Hotel Management and Catering Technology at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University (MJPRU), Bareilly, has begun admissions for its four-year Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) programme for the 2026–27 academic session.
Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the degree programme is designed to prepare students for careers in the rapidly expanding hospitality and tourism industry through a blend of academic learning and hands-on industry exposure.
Students who have passed Class 12 in Arts, Science or Commerce are eligible to apply. Candidates from the General and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories must have secured at least 45 per cent marks, while Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) applicants require a minimum of 40 per cent marks.
According to the department, the programme places strong emphasis on practical learning and industry readiness. As part of the curriculum, students undergo six months of industrial training at leading five-star hotels across the country, enabling them to gain valuable professional experience before graduation.
Officials said that many students receive employment offers from prominent hotel chains, cruise lines, airlines and hospitality companies in India and abroad even before completing the final year of the programme.
The department offers modern infrastructure, including food production, food and beverage service, housekeeping and front office laboratories, a model guest room, access to the university guest house, library, hostels and sports facilities. Students also have the opportunity to gain practical experience under the university’s ‘Learn and Earn’ initiative by working at the university guest house.
The annual tuition fee for the programme has been fixed at Rs 35,000. Eligible students can also benefit from the Uttar Pradesh Government Scholarship Scheme, making the programme an affordable option for many aspiring hospitality professionals.

The curriculum also focuses on personality development, communication skills and industry-oriented training, equipping graduates with the competencies required to succeed in the global hospitality sector.
The university administration has urged students and parents to consider the programme as a cost-effective pathway to a rewarding career, highlighting its quality education, modern training facilities and excellent placement opportunities.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. K.P. Singh said the hospitality industry continues to witness rapid growth worldwide and requires skilled professionals.
“Our objective is not merely to award degrees but to develop competent, confident and industry-ready professionals. The University’s Department of Hotel Management is committed to building bright careers through modern training, strong industry partnerships and practical education,” he said.
The university has appealed to students and parents to share information about the programme with eligible candidates interested in pursuing a career in hotel management and complete the admission process within the prescribed timeline.
