Gonda: Divisional Commissioner Durga Shakti Nagpal directed officials to ensure the prompt, transparent and quality disposal of pension-related grievances during the Divisional Pension Adalat held at the Maharaja Suheldev Auditorium at the Devipatan Division headquarters.
The pension court heard complaints related to pensions and retirement benefits submitted by retired government employees and dependents of deceased employees from all four districts of the Devipatan Division.
Addressing officials, the Divisional Commissioner stressed that pension is a rightful entitlement of retired employees and said negligence in pension-related matters would not be tolerated. She instructed departments to handle all pension cases with sensitivity, transparency and within stipulated timelines so that pensioners and their families do not have to make repeated visits to government offices.
Nagpal said the divisional administration has been making continuous efforts to ensure the speedy resolution of pension and retirement benefit cases. Referring to the employee and pensioners’ grievance hearing held in Shravasti on May 8, 2026, she noted that several pending cases had been resolved effectively. She highlighted that dues amounting to Rs 1.52 crore under the General Provident Fund (GPF) had been released to 17 retired teachers of the Basic Education Department after remaining pending for several years, providing significant relief to the beneficiaries.
The Divisional Commissioner issued a series of directions to departmental officials, instructing them to hear the grievances of all retired employees and pensioners carefully, transfer complaints to the concerned section within three days, and ensure disposal of all cases within one week. She also directed departments to complete all retirement-related financial settlements within one month before an employee’s retirement, ensuring that retirees receive their dues without unnecessary delays.

During the hearing, pension-related issues of retired employees from Shravasti, including Ayodhya Prasad, whose increment and pay revision matter was resolved, and Chet Ram, whose pay anomaly and pension issues were addressed, were settled. Both retirees expressed their gratitude to the Divisional Commissioner for the timely intervention.
A total of 45 complainants participated in the pension court, including nine from Shravasti, 15 from Bahraich, eight from Gonda and 13 from Balrampur. Each petitioner presented their grievances before the Divisional Commissioner, who personally reviewed the cases and directed the concerned departmental officers to ensure quality and expeditious disposal.
Nagpal instructed officials to prioritise cases that could be resolved immediately and to complete procedural formalities in more complex matters within the prescribed timeframe while keeping complainants informed about the progress of their cases.
Senior officers from the concerned departments attended the Pension Adalat and presented relevant records and information during the proceedings. The initiative aimed to provide a single platform for the effective resolution of pension and retirement benefit issues while ensuring timely justice for retired employees and the dependents of deceased government personnel.
