Anand Singh Shines in Javelin as India Finishes Asian U-23 Athletics Championships with Three Gold Medals

Ordos: India’s athletics contingent concluded its campaign at the Asian Under-23 Athletics Championships on a high, with javelin thrower Anand Singh and the women’s 4x400m relay team clinching gold medals on the final day. India finished the championships with an impressive haul of 16 medals, comprising three gold, four silver and nine bronze.

Anand Singh produced a sensational performance in the men’s javelin throw, breaching the coveted 80-metre mark for the first time in his career. He registered a personal best of 80.57 metres with his final attempt to secure the gold medal and earn a place in the prestigious 80-metre club.

India also celebrated another podium finish in the event as Shivam Lohakare claimed the bronze medal with a best throw of 77.70 metres, ensuring a double medal success for the country in the javelin competition.

The Indian women’s 4x400m relay quartet of Shravani Sachin Sangale, Sandramol Sabu, Pravallika Narimala and Nofisa Khatun delivered a commanding performance to win the gold medal in 3 minutes 33.62 seconds. China secured the silver medal with a timing of 3:35.14, while Kazakhstan finished third in 3:37.65.

India added another medal in the women’s 4x100m relay, where Sanjana, Akshaya Saravanan, Sudhiksha V and Shreya Rajesh combined to win the silver medal with a time of 44.68 seconds. China claimed gold in 43.75 seconds, while Kazakhstan took bronze after clocking 50.90 seconds.

The strong performances on the concluding day capped a successful campaign for the Indian team, highlighting the country’s growing strength in track and field athletics and providing a significant boost ahead of future international competitions.
