Traders Oppose Geo-Tagging System Introduced in Mandi Committees, Demand Rollback

Lucknow: Grain and food traders in Lucknow have strongly opposed the recently introduced geo-tagging system in agricultural market committees, claiming that the new arrangement will create significant practical difficulties for businesses.

The issue was discussed during an emergency meeting of grain and food traders held at the office of the Lucknow Vyapar Mandal on Gautam Buddha Marg on Tuesday. Representatives of various trader associations gathered to deliberate on the implications of the geo-tagging mechanism that has been implemented for traders operating under the Krishi Utpadan Mandi Samiti framework.

Addressing the meeting, Rajendra Kumar Agrawal, President of the Lucknow Grain and Food Products Industry Trade Association, said that the geo-tagging system would pose several operational and practical challenges for traders. He urged authorities to withdraw the arrangement with immediate effect, arguing that it could adversely affect the smooth functioning of trade activities.

Amarnath Mishra, President of Lucknow Vyapar Mandal, assured traders that their concerns would be taken up with the authorities. He said a meeting with the Mandi Director would be sought shortly to present the issues being faced by traders and to press for the withdrawal of the geo-tagging system.

Mishra emphasized that the organization would strongly advocate for a solution that safeguards traders’ interests while ensuring that market operations remain efficient and hassle-free.

The meeting was attended by several prominent traders and office-bearers, including Manish Kumar Gupta, Rajkumar Agrawal, Monu, Ram Shankar Awasthi, Deepak Kumar Agrawal, Jai Kumar Agrawal, Prashant Garg, Krishna Jeevan Rastogi, Sachin Agrawal, Saurabh Gupta, Akhil Kesarwani, and Rajat Gupta, along with a large number of grain and food traders.

The traders collectively urged the authorities to reconsider the implementation of the geo-tagging system and engage with stakeholders before introducing measures that could impact day-to-day business operations.
