Congress Leaders Pay Tribute to Babu Jagjivan Ram on His Death Anniversary in Lucknow

Lucknow: A tribute meeting was organized at the Uttar Pradesh Congress headquarters to commemorate the death anniversary of Jagjivan Ram, one of India’s most respected freedom fighters, social reformers, and champions of social justice.

Hundreds of Congress leaders and workers gathered at the party headquarters to pay floral tributes to the veteran leader and remember his immense contribution to the nation, particularly in the fields of social equality, constitutional values, and the upliftment of marginalized communities.

Addressing the gathering, former Member of Parliament P. L. Punia said that Babu Jagjivan Ram dedicated his entire life to the cause of social justice, equality, and the protection of constitutional rights. He emphasized that the ideals and vision of the veteran leader remain highly relevant today and should be carried forward to strengthen democracy and ensure equal opportunities for all sections of society.

Former Minister Moid Ahmad described Jagjivan Ram as a visionary leader whose struggle, dedication, and leadership left an indelible mark on Indian politics. He noted that the former Deputy Prime Minister worked tirelessly to secure dignity, representation, and equal opportunities for every section of society. His life, he said, continues to inspire future generations.

Speakers at the event highlighted Jagjivan Ram’s enduring legacy and reiterated the Congress party’s commitment to safeguarding constitutional principles, social justice, equality, and democratic values. They said the party would continue to work in the spirit of the ideals he championed throughout his public life.

Several senior Congress leaders and office-bearers attended the programme, including State Congress Treasurer Shiv Pandey, Chairman of the Ideology Department H.L. Dusadh, Vice-Chairman Surendra Yadav, along with Ramesh Mishra, Sanjay Sharma, District President Rudra Daman Singh Bablu, City President Amit Srivastava Tyagi, Lalan Kumar, Anamika Yadav, Dr. Lalti Devi, Anees Ansari, Sanjay Singh, Mukesh Singh Chauhan, Kuldeep Diwakar, Brijendra Kumar Singh, G.K. Dubey, Pushpendra Srivastava, Sampurnanand Mishra, Abdullah Sher Khan, Rakesh Pandey, Ashirwad Srivastava, Badre Alam, and many other party workers.
