Bareilly: District Magistrate Avinash Singh chaired a review meeting of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana at the auditorium of the Development Bhavan, directing officials and bankers to expedite loan approvals and strengthen public outreach to ensure wider adoption of the rooftop solar scheme.
During the meeting, the District Magistrate reviewed the status of loan applications linked to the scheme and expressed concern over delays in approvals by some banks. He instructed banking institutions facing issues in sanctioning loans to resolve them promptly and increase the number of approved applications. He emphasized that loan applications should not remain pending for long periods and that all backlogs must be cleared on priority.
To expand the reach of the flagship solar energy programme, Mr. Singh directed officials to organize special registration camps at tehsil and block levels. He said these camps would help more citizens register under the scheme and take advantage of the benefits offered by the Government of India for rooftop solar installations.
The District Magistrate also instructed bankers to maintain transparency in the loan approval process. He said that whenever a vendor’s loan application is rejected, the concerned bank must clearly communicate the reasons for rejection. He further advised bankers to ensure courteous and professional conduct while dealing with vendors and applicants.
Highlighting the importance of timely financial assistance, Mr. Singh urged all banks to ensure that loan applications submitted under both the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and the Chief Minister Yuva Scheme are processed without unnecessary delays.

The review meeting was attended by District Development Officer Dinesh Kumar Yadav, District Agriculture Officer Ritusha Tiwari, District Supply Officer Manish Singh, the Project Officer, NEDA, and representatives of various banks operating in the district.
Officials reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating implementation of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which aims to promote clean energy adoption, reduce electricity expenses for households, and contribute to sustainable development through increased use of solar power.
