Intensive Inspection Drive Conducted for School Vehicles; Strict Compliance with Safety Norms Enforced

Gonda: In a major initiative to ensure the safety and secure transportation of schoolchildren, a joint enforcement team led by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Administration) conducted an intensive inspection drive of school buses and other vehicles used for transporting students across the district.

The special campaign focused on verifying compliance with prescribed safety standards and ensuring that school vehicles are operating in accordance with transport regulations. Officials carried out detailed inspections to identify any deficiencies that could pose risks to the safety of students during their daily commute.

During the inspection, the enforcement team thoroughly examined vehicle fitness certificates, permits, insurance documents, pollution control certificates, fire extinguishers, first-aid boxes, emergency exit doors, speed governors, GPS tracking systems, and CCTV cameras where applicable. Officials also verified whether vehicles prominently displayed the name of the school, checked the validity of drivers’ licenses, and ensured the availability of conductors and other mandatory safety arrangements.

Vehicles found lacking in any of the prescribed requirements were issued instructions to rectify deficiencies within a stipulated time frame. Operators were warned that failure to comply with safety norms could invite strict action under relevant transport regulations.

Addressing vehicle owners and drivers during the campaign, the ARTO (Administration) emphasized that the safety of schoolchildren remains the administration’s highest priority. He stated that any negligence regarding safety standards would be viewed seriously and would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Officials directed vehicle operators to ensure that all school vehicles are maintained in accordance with established safety guidelines and undergo regular technical inspections. Drivers were also advised to strictly follow traffic regulations, adhere to prescribed speed limits, and exercise maximum caution while transporting students.

The enforcement team highlighted that proper maintenance of school transport vehicles is essential for preventing accidents and ensuring a safe travel environment for children. The campaign also sought to create awareness among school managements, vehicle owners, and drivers regarding their responsibilities in safeguarding students.

The ARTO further informed that such inspection drives will continue on a regular basis throughout the district. He noted that the objective of the initiative extends beyond regulatory enforcement and aims to foster a culture of safety and accountability among all stakeholders involved in student transportation.

Calling for collective cooperation, he said that school authorities, vehicle owners, drivers, and transport officials must work together to ensure a reliable, secure, and child-friendly transportation system. Through sustained monitoring and adherence to safety protocols, the district administration aims to provide parents with greater confidence in the safety of school transport services.

The inspection campaign reflects the administration’s ongoing commitment to strengthening road safety measures and ensuring that students travel to and from school in a secure and well-regulated environment.
