Gudamba Police Arrest Vehicle Thief, Recover Stolen Motorcycle in Lucknow

Lucknow: In a significant breakthrough against vehicle theft, Gudamba Police arrested a suspected motorcycle thief and recovered a stolen motorcycle during a targeted operation in the area. Two juveniles allegedly involved in the crime have also been taken into police protection and sent to a juvenile correction facility as per legal procedures.

According to police officials, a case was registered at Gudamba Police Station on June 29, 2026, following a complaint by Haridwar Mishra, son of Rama Shankar Mishra, originally a resident of Kushinagar and currently residing in government quarters within the Gudamba Police Station premises. Mishra reported the theft of his Passion Pro motorcycle (UP42E6299), leading to the registration of a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The investigation was being conducted by Sub-Inspector Digvijay Yadav. During surveillance and intelligence-gathering efforts, police traced the stolen vehicle and recovered it on July 1 from bushes in a vacant plot located in front of KL Heights behind Paharpur village.

During the operation, police arrested Sahil, 19, son of Munna, a native of Sitapur district who was currently residing in a makeshift settlement behind Maniratnam, Sector-J, Gudamba, Lucknow. Based on the recovery, additional legal provisions were invoked in the case, and further proceedings are underway.

During questioning, the accused allegedly confessed that he, along with two juveniles, had stolen the motorcycle from the 23 Number Chauraha area with the intention of selling it for financial gain.

The recovered motorcycle has been seized and returned to the legal process as evidence. The case has been registered as Case No. 257/2026 under Sections 303(2) and 317(2) of the BNS at Gudamba Police Station.

The successful operation was carried out by a police team led by SHO Anjani Kumar Mishra and included Sub-Inspector Digvijay Yadav, Sub-Inspector Shailesh Yadav, Head Constable Rajan Tripathi, and Constable Jagpal. Police officials said efforts against vehicle theft and other property crimes will continue with increased vigilance across the city.
