Lucknow University M.Ed. Students Complete Three-Day Educational Tour to Haridwar and Dehradun

Lucknow: The Department of Education at Lucknow University successfully concluded a three-day educational tour for M.Ed. Second Semester students to Haridwar and Dehradun. The tour was organized under the guidance and best wishes of Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.P. Saini with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), social responsibility, yoga, sustainable development, and the functioning of higher education institutions.

Exposure to Indian Knowledge Traditions and Social Service

On the first day, students visited Shantikunj in Haridwar, where they participated in social service activities and gained insights into community-oriented initiatives. The group later toured Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, where they observed various self-reliance-based activities, including cow care, garment production, and eco-friendly plate manufacturing.

The students also learned about the university’s efforts to integrate Indian Knowledge Systems into academic and community practices. In the evening, they attended the renowned Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri, experiencing the spiritual and cultural heritage of the region.

Interaction with Academicians and Literary Personalities

On the second day, the students visited Dehradun University and interacted with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Surekha Dangwal. The discussion focused on higher education, research, innovation, and emerging academic opportunities.

The educational tour also included a visit to Lekhak Gaon (Writers’ Village), where students had the opportunity to interact with former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and former Education Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. During the interaction, he shared valuable insights on education, literature, leadership, and nation-building, inspiring students to contribute meaningfully to society.

The participants also explored the concept and cultural significance of Lekhak Gaon, which promotes literary and intellectual engagement.

Learning the Scientific and Holistic Value of Yoga

On the final day, students visited Patanjali University and Patanjali Yogpeeth. Under the guidance of Swami Parmarth Ji, they gained a deeper understanding of the scientific, physical, mental, and spiritual dimensions of yoga and its role in Indian philosophy and lifestyle.

Following the completion of the programme, the students returned to Lucknow aboard the Vande Bharat Express.

Emphasis on Experiential Learning

The educational tour was led by Prof. Kiranlata Dangwal. Head of the Department of Education and Dean, Prof. Shravan Kumar, also accompanied the students throughout the visit.

Speaking on the significance of the programme, Prof. Shravan Kumar said that such educational tours play a vital role in personality development, experiential learning, and strengthening students’ practical understanding of India’s rich knowledge traditions. He noted that direct exposure to educational, cultural, and social institutions helps students develop a broader perspective and enhances their professional and academic growth.

The tour provided participants with valuable academic, cultural, and experiential learning opportunities, reinforcing the importance of integrating classroom learning with real-world experiences.
