Three-Day Mega Health Fair Inaugurated at Gonda Medical College to Mark 12 Years of Central Government

Gonda: A three-day mega health camp and health fair was inaugurated at the Government Medical College in Gonda on Saturday to commemorate the completion of 12 years of the Central Government. The event was launched by District In-Charge Minister Ashish Patel, who highlighted the government’s achievements in healthcare, agriculture, and public welfare during the occasion.

The minister inaugurated the health fair organized by the Health Department and distributed Ayushman Bharat cards to eligible beneficiaries. He also interacted with visitors and reviewed the healthcare services, diagnostic facilities, and awareness programmes being offered through various departmental stalls.

Addressing the gathering, Patel said that the Central Government’s welfare initiatives aim to ensure that quality healthcare reaches every section of society, particularly the economically weaker and vulnerable groups. He noted that the Ayushman Bharat scheme has significantly reduced the financial burden of medical treatment on millions of families across the country.

The minister directed officials to ensure that every visitor attending the health fair receives proper medical consultation, diagnostic services, and information about government healthcare schemes.

The three-day event will feature specialist medical consultations, health screenings, disease detection services, Ayushman card generation, and public awareness programmes, benefiting thousands of residents from across the district.

Several public representatives attended the inauguration, including Mankapur MLA Ramapati Shastri, Tarabganj MLA Prem Narayan Pandey, Katra Bazar MLA Bawan Singh, Mehnoun MLA Vinay Kumar Dwivedi, Gaura MLA Prabhat Verma, along with district officials, representatives of Members of Parliament, and leaders of various political and social organizations.

Kharif Farmers’ Seminar Highlights Modern Agriculture

Later, the minister inaugurated a Kharif Productivity Seminar organized by the Agriculture Department at Venkatacharya Club. He visited exhibition stalls set up by various departments and interacted with farmers regarding modern agricultural practices and government support programmes.

During the event, Patel, along with local legislators, participated in traditional welfare programmes including God Bharai (baby shower ceremony) for pregnant women and Annaprashan ceremonies for infants.

Government Achievements Highlighted at Press Conference

Earlier in the day, the minister addressed a press conference at the Circuit House to mark the completion of 12 years of the Central Government. He outlined key achievements in financial inclusion, agriculture, healthcare, housing, employment, and infrastructure development.

According to Patel, more than 1.42 million bank accounts have been opened in Gonda under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, while social security schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, and Atal Pension Yojana have benefited lakhs of residents.

He said that over 86,000 families in rural and urban areas have received permanent housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. In the agriculture sector, nearly 445,000 farmers have received direct financial assistance amounting to ₹1,958 crore under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.

Patel also highlighted improvements in agricultural productivity, noting that food grain production in Gonda has increased from 8.43 lakh metric tonnes to 9.34 lakh metric tonnes. Schemes such as crop insurance, PM-KUSUM, Kisan Credit Cards, Soil Health Cards, and farmer training programmes have contributed to enhanced agricultural output and farmer income.

In the healthcare sector, more than 7.73 lakh Ayushman Bharat cards have been issued in the district, enabling eligible beneficiaries to access free treatment. He further cited the positive impact of initiatives such as the Jal Jeevan Mission, Ujjwala Yojana, Saubhagya Scheme, and Swachh Bharat Mission on rural living standards.

Highlighting employment generation, the minister said that investment promotion, MSME development, the Mudra Scheme, One District One Product (ODOP), entrepreneurship programmes, and skill development initiatives have created new opportunities for youth.

He added that the establishment of a Medical College and an Engineering College has strengthened Gonda’s position as an emerging hub for education and healthcare.

“Gonda is playing a significant role in the vision of a developed India. The district continues to make steady progress in financial inclusion, farmer welfare, healthcare, education, women’s empowerment, digital governance, employment generation, and infrastructure development,” Patel said.
