Lucknow: Honoured by The Lucknow Tribune at the Mother’s Day Felicitation Ceremony 2026 for industry-leading policies on workplace inclusion, flexibility, and women’s empowerment
The Lucknow Tribune, Lucknow’s pre-eminent English-language weekly, convened the Mother’s Day Felicitation Ceremony 2026 at Hotel Grand JBR on 17 May 2026. At the occasion, Union Bank of India, Lucknow was conferred the Best Employer Award for Woman Employees — an accolade determined by a comprehensive survey conducted by The Lucknow Tribune across banks and public sector undertakings in the city.
An Employee-Friendly Ecosystem for Women
The survey highlighted that Union Bank of India has systematically cultivated an employee-friendly ecosystem through several progressive initiatives, establishing itself as one of the most supportive workplaces for women employees across Lucknow. Among the most valued facilities introduced by the Bank is an on-premises crèche, a provision exceedingly rare among banking and public sector institutions in the region.
The facility enables young mothers to continue discharging their professional responsibilities with composure and peace of mind. Further reinforcing this commitment, the Bank’s respected Managing Director formally inaugurated a dedicated play section within the crèche, equipped with CCTV monitoring to ensure a safe, secure, and child-friendly environment for employees and their families.
Flexibility, Proximity, and Representation
The survey further observed that the Bank extends meaningful flexibility to women employees who bear caregiving responsibilities. Wherever operationally feasible, the Bank facilitates postings in closer proximity to an employee’s spouse, parents, or hometown. Women employees are strongly represented across branches, regional offices, and administrative functions — including leadership and decision-making roles — reflecting the Bank’s enduring commitment to equal opportunity and merit-based growth.
Empower Her: Championing Women’s Leadership
The Bank’s women empowerment agenda extends well beyond workplace policy. Under the flagship “Empower Her” initiative, women employees are continuously encouraged to assume leadership positions and participate actively in professional growth opportunities.

Several women employees have successfully led car loan business at the state level — independently managing negotiations, nurturing relationships with leading automobile dealer agencies across the region, and assuming complete ownership of specific dealer tie-ups.
Women officers are additionally representing the Bank at prestigious forums and discharging leadership responsibilities in important committees — including participation and representation at the State Level Bankers’ Committee — further underscoring the expanding role of women in policy-level decision-making within the banking sector.
Sport, Inclusivity, and Community
The spirit of inclusivity was equally evident in the Bank’s extracurricular and engagement activities. A women’s cricket tournament, organised by the Bank, witnessed enthusiastic participation from female employees drawn from distant postings — including Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, and Kanpur. The event fostered team spirit and camaraderie whilst showcasing the vibrant culture of confidence and participation nurtured within the organisation.
Holistic Health and Wellness at the Workplace
In addition to professional development, the Bank prioritises the holistic well-being of its women workforce. Regular health check-up camps, wellness sessions, gynaecological consultations, and counselling programmes are organised within the workplace, ensuring that the physical and mental well-being of women employees receives consistent institutional support.
Receiving this recognition on Mother’s Day carries profound significance. It stands as a public acknowledgement that Union Bank of India is not merely an employer, but an institution where women are respected, supported, and empowered to lead and excel — both professionally and personally. The Award reaffirms the Bank’s conviction that a truly inclusive workplace is not an aspiration but an operational imperative.
