Lord Ram’s Birth Aimed at Upholding Dharma, Says Swami Muktinathananda

Lucknow | Ramakrishna Math, Lucknow, witnessed a spiritually enriching discourse on Sunday as its President Swami Muktinathananda spoke on the life and significance of Lord Rama during his weekly sermon based on the Ramakrishna Vachanamrit.

Message of Dharma and Righteousness

Swami Muktinathananda emphasized that the birth of Lord Rama was for the establishment of dharma (righteousness) and the destruction of adharma (evil). He explained that Lord Rama, considered an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born to King Dasharatha of Ayodhya after a sacred yajna performed for progeny.

He noted that Lord Rama’s life serves as a timeless guide, teaching values such as truth, duty, discipline, and moral conduct. “His actions reflect the ideals of an ideal son, brother, and king,” he said.

Purpose of the Divine Incarnation

Highlighting the purpose of Lord Rama’s incarnation, Swami Ji said it was to liberate the world from the tyranny of evil forces, particularly the demon king Ravana, and to restore balance and righteousness.

Significance of Goddess Sita

The discourse also shed light on the life of Goddess Sita, whose birth, Swami Ji explained, is equally remarkable. She is believed to have been discovered by King Janaka while ploughing a field, earning her the title “Bhoomi Putri” (daughter of the Earth). He described Sita as a symbol of sacrifice, purity, and strength.

Lessons for Modern Life

Swami Muktinathananda highlighted that Lord Rama’s life offers valuable lessons for modern society. He cited the example of Rama accepting exile to honor his father’s promise as the highest form of duty and sacrifice, demonstrating patience and resilience even in adversity.

Inspiration from Swami Vivekananda

Drawing parallels, he also spoke about Swami Vivekananda, who overcame hardships such as poverty and social challenges to spread the message of Indian culture and Vedanta across the world. His life, Swami Ji said, continues to inspire youth toward confidence and determination.

Concluding Message

In conclusion, Swami Muktinathananda stated that both Lord Rama and Swami Vivekananda teach the importance of remaining steadfast in one’s principles despite challenges. He urged people to follow the path of truth, patience, and hard work to achieve their goals and lead a meaningful life.
