Lucknow: Members of the Uttarakhand Mahaparishad and prominent members of the Uttarakhand community celebrated the traditional Kumaoni Holi with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour in the city.
The Holi celebrations began at the residence of Mahaparishad President Harish Chandra Pant in Murlinagar. The gathering of holiyars (Holi singers) commenced the programme by invoking Lord Ganesha with the traditional Holi song “Siddhi Ke Data Vighna Vinashak,” setting a devotional tone for the festivities. Participants then exchanged greetings by applying abir and gulal to one another and offering blessings.
Later, the group of singers visited the residence of Senior Vice President Mangal Singh Rawat in Vikas Nagar, where a traditional Baithaki Holi session was organised. The gathering witnessed melodious renditions of Holi songs rooted in Uttarakhand’s rich cultural traditions.
The celebrations continued as the Holi troupe proceeded to the residence of Mahaparishad General Secretary Bharat Singh Bisht in Shivani Vihar, Kalyanpur. There too, traditional Holi songs were sung in a festive atmosphere, and participants exchanged abir-gulal while extending warm greetings and blessings.

Addressing the gathering, Bharat Singh Bisht said that Holi in Uttarakhand is not merely a festival of colours but a unique blend of music, devotion, culture, and social harmony. He noted that the Uttarakhand community living in Lucknow continues to keep its traditions alive by celebrating the festival every year with great enthusiasm.
Throughout the programme, the melodious notes of traditional Holi songs created a devotional and celebratory atmosphere. The vibrant mix of colours, joy, and cultural heritage made the celebration a special attraction for Uttarakhand residents living in Lucknow.
Prominent participants in the Holi celebrations included Harish Chandra Pant, Bharat Singh Bisht, Mangal Singh Rawat, Surendra Rajeshwari, Pooran Joshi, Lal Singh Bisht, and Mahendra Singh Gaelakoti, among others.
