Lucknow | In a significant breakthrough, Gosain Ganj police under the South Zone of the Lucknow Police Commissionerate have arrested six individuals involved in an attempted murder case within 24 hours of the incident. The accused had attacked a young man and, believing him dead, dumped him into the flowing waters of Indra Canal.
According to police reports, on January 27, 2026, Sunil Kumar, a resident of the area, filed a complaint stating that his son, Ravi, was severely injured in an attack by a group wielding sharp weapons. An FIR was registered at Gosain Ganj police station under Case Crime No. 36/2026, Sections 109(1), 127(2), 118(1), and 352 of the BNS Act.

During the investigation, evidence revealed that the assailants struck the victim multiple times around the neck and body, placed him in a vehicle (Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, registration UP32-QS-7757), and threw him into Indra Canal, assuming he was dead. Following persistent efforts, the police apprehended six accused—Ajit Kumar, Brijesh Kumar alias Chhotu, Ram Singh, Saurabh Verma, Vishal Yadav, and Prashant Yadav—on the night of January 27–28. The vehicle used in the crime was also recovered.

Based on the evidence collected, charges under Sections 190, 191(2), 191(3), and 3(5) of the BNS Act have been added, and the accused have been presented before the court and sent to judicial custody. The injured victim, Ravi, is currently undergoing treatment at the Trauma Center, PGI.
Police records indicate that some of the accused have prior criminal histories. The operation was carried out by Sub-Inspectors Arvind Kumar Yadav, Rishabh Pandey, Rajnish Yadav, Head Constable Jitendra Singh Yadav, and Constables Pradeep Kumar Arya and Brijesh Kumar.
