Maharani Season 4 has improved my bonding with people – Huma Qureshi

Mumbai: Actress Huma Qureshi, who is set to reprise her iconic role as Rani Bharti in Maharani Season 4, believes her acting journey has strengthened her connection with people rather than changing her political perspective.

Speaking about how her experience has shaped her understanding of leadership and humanity, Huma told IANS, “No, my political views have not changed. I believe I’m very much a humanist, and I think humanity is above all else. Working on this show has helped me become much more human.”

Known for portraying strong, layered female characters, Huma emphasized her commitment to bringing authenticity and depth to women’s roles on screen. “My career is a testament to the fact that I always want to play real, living, breathing, three-dimensional, strong women,” she said.

From Rani Bharti in Maharani to Meena in Delhi Crime and Single Salma, Huma continues to champion women-led narratives. “For me, being a woman and being powerful go hand in hand,” she added.

Maharani 4, directed by Puneet Prakash and developed by Subhash Kapoor under Kangra Talkies Pvt. Ltd., will stream on Sony LIV from November 7. The new season features Darsheel Safary, Rajeshwari Sachdev, and returning stars Vipin Sharma, Amit Sial, and Vineet Kumar.

Huma also voiced concern over the challenges faced by smaller, content-driven projects amid the dominance of franchise-led films. “It’s harder for sincere, content-driven stories to find space since we lack big marketing budgets or celebrity buzz. The system still favors the larger, safer titles,” she noted.

Meanwhile, Delhi Crime Season 3, starring Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, and Rajesh Tailang, will see Huma join the cast alongside Sayani Gupta and Anshumaan Pushkar, promising an intense new chapter in the acclaimed crime series.
