Lucknow: The Lucknow campus of the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) hosted its first-ever National Conference on the theme “Intelligent Policing: Transitioning from Traditional Policing to Innovative Change.” The event brought together policymakers, senior police officers, academic scholars, and technology experts to deliberate on the roadmap, challenges, and opportunities for the future of smart policing in India.
Chief Guest Awanish Awasthi (Retd.), Advisor to the Chief Minister, highlighted the 11-point action plan implemented under CM Yogi Adityanath, which includes crime control, women’s safety, cybercrime prevention, technological empowerment, artificial intelligence, advanced training, welfare, and grievance redressal. He praised initiatives like Mission Shakti and the establishment of cyber police stations in every district as exemplary measures for women’s safety.
Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor of RRU, expressed gratitude to the state government, noting that the Lucknow campus is playing a leading role in innovation, evidence-based research, and specialized training in the fields of security and policing. He assured that the university, in collaboration with police, prison services, fire services, and skill development departments, would continue to find modern solutions to emerging challenges.
Former DGP Dr. R.P. Singh shared insights on administrative reforms, while Major Virat Mishra elaborated on the community policing model. Cybercrime expert Prof. Triveni Singh and Dr. Deepak Singh from IIIT Lucknow showcased the latest applications of AI and digital forensics. Ex-IPS officer Rajesh Pandey discussed legal and ethical dimensions of policing, while ADG Naveen Arora highlighted Uttar Pradesh Police’s best practices in technology adoption.

The conference also witnessed research presentations by students and scholars from across the country, reinforcing RRU Lucknow’s intellectual leadership in policing studies.
In the valedictory session, ADG Ayush and senior IAS officer Chaitra V congratulated the participants and applauded the active involvement of UP Police, Provincial Armed Constabulary, ITBP, and prison services. The event was organized under the leadership of RRU Lucknow Director, Manjari Chandra, who extended gratitude to all stakeholders.
