Health Camps to Be Set Up at Community Health Centers under ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan’

Lucknow- In a significant push to promote women’s and adolescent girls’ health, a meeting was held at the Collectorate Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Vishakh G. The meeting focused on accelerating the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan” (Healthy Women, Empowered Family Campaign), which will run across the district from September 17 to October 2.

Addressing the gathering, the District Magistrate said the campaign aims to protect women’s and girls’ health, improve nutrition levels, and ensure timely prevention of serious illnesses. Chief Medical Officer Dr. N.B. Singh added that the initiative will emphasize saturation of all health services available to women and children, especially for those left out so far.

The campaign will run in tandem with the ICDS department’s Poshan Maah (Nutrition Month). Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch the nationwide initiative from Madhya Pradesh, with all districts connected virtually. In Lucknow, the district-level launch will be held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Convention Center, KGMU.

As part of the program, 48 stalls from the Health Department and 10 stalls from ICDS will be set up. Key health institutions including KGMU, SGPGI, RMLIMS, IMA, Red Cross, pathology centers, and private hospitals will also participate, providing expert medical services. Additionally, health activities will be organized across all Community Health Centers (CHCs), Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, district hospitals, primary health centers, and medical colleges.

Between September 17 and October 2, special health camps will be organized at all CHCs, inaugurated by public representatives. These camps will feature disease screening, medical check-ups, Ayushman Bharat PMJAY beneficiary registration, e-card and ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) card distribution. High-risk women will be vaccinated, provided specialist consultations, and given free medicines. For adolescent girls, special Kishori Health Days and health awareness programs in schools are also planned.

Departments including Women & Child Development, Self-Help Groups, and Nutrition Mission will collaborate to promote nutritious diets, food counseling, and Annaprashan activities. TB testing and enrollment under the Nikshay Mitra scheme will also be carried out. Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) and Moderately Acute Malnourished (MAM) children will be identified, treated, and referred to NRCs when required.

District Magistrate Vishakh instructed CHC superintendents to review preparations locally and CMS of district hospitals to conduct regular reviews at their level. She also directed the DPO (ICDS) to mobilize women and adolescent girls through Anganwadi workers, while the Municipal Corporation and Panchayati Raj Department will carry out sanitation, cleanliness, and nutrition awareness drives during the campaign.

Private hospitals and nursing homes are also expected to be roped in to expand the outreach.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Medical Officer, Additional CMO, District Probation Officer, officials from Women & Child Development and Panchayati Raj Departments, medical superintendents, and representatives from various health institutions.
