Mumbai : Ritwik Bhowmik, who gained recognition with ‘Bandish Bandits,’ is now stepping onto the silver screen. His debut film, ‘Abhutpurv,’ which means “unprecedented,” will be a unique ‘rom-hor-com,’ blending romance, horror, and comedy. The film will feature seven popular actors alongside Ritwik, with the lead actress to be announced next month.
Set in 1990s Agra, the film promises an emotional and entertaining cinematic journey by intertwining the innocence of small-town love, the vibrancy of that era, and an unexpected supernatural twist. Music will play a crucial role in deepening the sense of nostalgia.
Expressing his excitement, Ritwik said, “This story touched me during the very first narration. Since then, it has lived in my heart and mind. It is a beautiful, dream-like story full of love, innocence, and memorable moments.”

Producer Khyati Madan said, “‘Abhutpurv’ is very special to me. 90s Agra reflects the simplicity and true love of that time. It has romance, humor, nostalgia, and a touch of supernatural magic, making it a perfect theatrical experience. Ritwik’s debut makes it even more special. We will announce the rest of the cast soon.”

To capture the essence of the film, the makers shared these beautiful lines: “You must have known the story of incomplete love, You must have heard the story of one-sided love, You must have heard of lovers who give their lives and those who take lives, But you will have never heard the story of a lover who gives their life to take another, Or one who loses love to find love. The story that has never been told, never been heard, that is ‘Abhutpurv’.”
Khyati Madan’s company, Not Out Entertainment, is producing the project in collaboration with Sumit Kumar Mishra. The shooting will begin in November 2025. This is Not Out Entertainment’s second major announcement this year, following the reveal of Ahan Shetty’s film, which is being called India’s first national-tragedy horror film. After successful campaigns with major companies like Red Chillies Entertainment, Disney India, and Maddock Films, Khyati has launched diverse projects under her production company, including a slice-of-life drama directed by Habib Faisal.
Having appeared in series and films like ‘The Whistleblower,’ ‘Modern Love Mumbai,’ and ‘Maja Ma’ on OTT platforms, this film marks Ritwik Bhowmik’s first step onto the big screen with a unique and memorable story.
