Uttar Pradesh Gosheva Aayog, IIT Delhi Collaborate to Promote Innovation in Rural Development

LUCKNOW: A virtual meeting was held  to encourage innovations in biomedical energy, solid technology, and rural development. The meeting, co-chaired by  Shyam Bihari Gupt, Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Gosheva Aayog (Cow Service Commission), and Professor Virendra Kumar Vijay from IIT Delhi’s Centre for Rural Development and Technology, saw experts and representatives from across India participate online via Google Meet.

The Gosheva Aayog’s Vice Chairman,  Atul Singh, along with members Mahesh Shukla, Ramakant Upadhyay, Rajesh Singh Sengar, and Deepak Goyal, were present at the meeting. They shared their experiences and suggestions on the commission’s activities and plans to promote technological innovations, making the discussion more meaningful and result-oriented.

Gupt highlighted the commission’s efforts to promote cow-based rural economies, biogas, and ‘Panchgavya’-based innovations. He stated that the commission’s goal is to establish a sustainable, cow-based model in every district of the state that brings about revolutionary changes in rural livelihoods, energy, and environmental protection. He emphasized that cow-rearing is not just a tradition but the foundation of a sustainable future economy.

During the meeting, there was a consensus on several key points, including technical and administrative coordination, collaborative projects, and the Mission Biogas project, which will be a joint venture with a 40-60 financial arrangement between the state and central governments.

Other notable attendees included Padma Shri Bharat Bhushan Tyagi, a natural farmer from Bulandshahr who has trained over 80,000 farmers, and Dr. Ravindra of KVK, Kaneri Math, Kolhapur, who showcased the ‘Lakhpati Kheti’ (rich farmer) model, which demonstrates how to generate high income from a limited land area. Other attendees, including  Ramtirth Shrestha, Lalaji Tiwari,  Sanjay Pahariya Palida, and the Agriculture Director of Uttar Pradesh, also offered valuable suggestions.

Bharat Bhushan Tyagi praised natural farming as an ideal model for self-reliance and sustainable agriculture. He stressed the importance of empowering farmers in the production-certification-marketing cycle, while Dr. Ravindra’s ‘Lakhpati Kheti’ model was highlighted as an inspiration for rural farmers, showing the potential for high-profit diversity on small plots of land.
