Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh’s Minister for Fisheries Development, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Nishad, launched the official department portal https://fisheries.up.gov.in on Friday to streamline beneficiary selection for key fisheries sector schemes under the state sector for the financial year 2025–26. The launch was held at his official residence on Vikramaditya Marg in Lucknow.

The newly launched portal will facilitate applications for schemes including the Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Scheme, Intensive Fish Farming Aeration System Scheme, and the Moped with Icebox Scheme. Interested individuals can apply online between July 24 and August 14, 2025, to avail benefits under these schemes.

Addressing the media during the launch, Dr. Nishad emphasized the state government’s commitment to improving the socio-economic condition of fishermen and fish farmers. He elaborated on the financial aid being provided under different schemes:

  • Under the Mukhyamantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, pond leaseholders will receive a 40% subsidy on the unit cost of Rs 4 lakh per hectare for initial investment and establishing a fish seed bank.
  • The Nishadraj Boat Subsidy Scheme offers 40% subsidy on equipment like boats, nets, and insulated iceboxes, with a unit cost of Rs 77,050.
  • For Aeration Systems in intensive fish farming, a 50% subsidy will be provided on a unit cost of Rs 50,000.
  • The Moped with Icebox Scheme will offer a 40% subsidy on a unit cost of Rs 60,000.

Dr. Nishad reiterated that these initiatives are designed to aid leaseholder fish farmers and traditional fishing communities, increase fish production and productivity, and enhance overall livelihoods.

He instructed officials to ensure the application process is accessible, transparent, and well-publicized at the district level. “Local authorities must undertake extensive awareness campaigns so that the benefits of these schemes reach the poorest members of the fishing community,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Amit Kumar Ghosh, Principal Secretary of the Fisheries Department, stated that district-level officials have been instructed to aggressively promote the schemes and ensure error-free applications. He also provided detailed information about each of the four major schemes and highlighted the department’s ongoing commitment to digital transformation and transparency.

Also present at the launch were Rajesh Prakash, Director General, Fisheries, N.S. Rahmani, Director, Fisheries, and other senior departmental officials. Earlier in the day, the Minister also conducted a comprehensive review meeting at the Vidhan Sabha office, directing officials to expedite implementation and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out.

The launch of this digital initiative marks a significant step in the state’s push towards improving the lives of its fisherfolk through digitization, financial support, and targeted welfare delivery.
