Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath-led government in Uttar Pradesh continues its focused efforts to enhance law and order across the state with a fresh round of administrative reshuffles. On Thursday, the state government announced the transfer and reassignment of three senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, entrusting them with new responsibilities to bolster policing efficiency.
In the latest move, 1995-batch IPS officer Mutha Ashok Jain has been appointed as the Additional Director General (ADG) of Gorakhpur Zone, a region of significant political importance as it is the home constituency of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

- P.C. Meena (1991 batch) has been appointed as Director General, Prisons Administration and Reform Services, Uttar Pradesh.
- Dr. K.S. Pratap Kumar (1993 batch), who previously served as ADG, Gorakhpur Zone, has now been assigned the role of Director General and CMD of the Uttar Pradesh Police Housing Corporation.
- Mutha Ashok Jain (1995 batch) has replaced Dr. K.S. Pratap Kumar as the ADG of Gorakhpur Zone.
Who is Mutha Ashok Jain?
Born on August 30, 1966, in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, Mutha Ashok Jain brings with him a robust combination of academic excellence and field experience. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Banking, Accounts, and Statistics) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) with specialization in Marketing and Finance from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow.

He joined the Indian Police Service on December 28, 1995, and began his career as Superintendent of Police (City), Varanasi, where he played a significant role in crime control. Over the years, Jain has served in key districts including Allahabad (Prayagraj), Kanpur, Etawah, Jaunpur, Farrukhabad, and Lalitpur as SP and SSP, earning recognition for his effective leadership and strategic policing.
