Lucknow : Samajwadi Party (SP) National President and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of divisive politics, rampant corruption, and the destruction of democratic institutions. Speaking at the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Auditorium at the SP State Headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav addressed party leaders and workers from across the state, setting the tone for an aggressive opposition campaign ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
“BJP Misuses Power, Undermines Democracy”
Yadav alleged that the BJP has consistently misused state power to tarnish the image of opposition leaders and parties. “The BJP’s politics is rooted in hatred. Their approach is undemocratic and dictatorial. They want complete control over democratic and constitutional institutions,” he said.
He claimed that under BJP rule, Uttar Pradesh’s law and order, education, healthcare, and power supply systems have collapsed. “Every department is drowning in corruption. There is loot in every sphere. The common citizen’s voice is unheard; the people are suffering,” he added.
Critique of Economic and Industrial Policies
Yadav also targeted the BJP’s economic policies, alleging they have devastated small and cottage industries. “The BJP and RSS used to promote Swadeshi when they were in the opposition. But now, our markets are flooded with Chinese goods. What happened to the ‘Make in India’ promise?” he questioned, blaming the government’s “flawed policies” for damaging domestic industries.
No Solutions for Inflation or Unemployment
Taking on the BJP’s governance record, the former CM said the ruling party has no answers to the rising inflation and unemployment in the country. “They want to stay in power by spreading hate in society. They have no interest in development, jobs, education, or healthcare,” he said.
Highlighting SP’s Development Record
Recalling the achievements of the previous Samajwadi government, Yadav said, “We brought real development to Uttar Pradesh. Metro rail projects were launched in Lucknow and other cities, and we constructed India’s finest expressway from Agra to Lucknow.”
He further listed several landmark projects undertaken during his tenure, including:
-
International Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow
-
IT City, Cancer Institute, and new medical colleges
-
Power plants in Kanpur, Etah, and Lalitpur
-
Riverfront and public parks
-
Distribution of lakhs of laptops to students
-
Launch of 1090 Women Power Line, 102 and 108 ambulance services
-
Construction of Lok Bhawan, the new Chief Minister’s office
-
Establishment of a state-of-the-art Police Headquarters Signature Building
Yadav emphasized, “In just five years, we made UP a leading state in terms of development. But all that momentum has been lost under the BJP regime.”
Accusations of Massive Corruption
The SP leader accused the BJP government of unprecedented corruption, particularly in major infrastructure projects. “The Purvanchal Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, and Gorakhpur Link Expressway are all marred by scams. The Gorakhpur Link Expressway has become synonymous with corruption. ₹7,000 crore have been squandered for a 90-km road,” he alleged.
Lawlessness and Public Safety Concerns
Yadav did not mince words on the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. “Murders and rapes are happening unchecked, even near police stations. Criminals roam free while citizens live in fear. The so-called zero tolerance for crime is a complete failure,” he said.
Raising questions on police actions, he added, “The government claims criminals are fleeing the state. Then who are the people being shot in the legs daily? Who is being crippled every day in fake encounters?”
He also expressed grave concern for women and children, saying, “Women are unsafe, and the dignity and lives of young girls are at constant risk. This anti-people government must go.”
Call for a Political Change in 2027
Concluding his address, Akhilesh Yadav asserted that only a change of government can restore Uttar Pradesh’s progress. “The people will defeat BJP’s misrule in 2027 and free the state from its disastrous governance,” he declared to thunderous applause.
Prominent Leaders in Attendance
Several senior leaders joined Yadav at the event, including:
-
Mata Prasad Pandey, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly
-
Jitendra Dohre, MP
-
Rajendra Chaudhary, Former Cabinet Minister
-
Shyam Lal Pal, SP State President
-
Legislators Nawab Iqbal, Amitabh Bajpai, Sandeep Patel, and others
The gathering served as a rallying cry for SP cadres as the party intensifies its preparations for the crucial 2027 elections.
