Digital Justice for Workers: UP to Launch e-Court System for Swift Labour Dispute Resolution

Lucknow — In a major move to enhance worker welfare and foster industrial growth, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is set to introduce a tech-driven e-Court system for faster and more transparent resolution of labour-related disputes.

The Labour and Employment Department is actively working to implement the e-Court system, which will digitize the adjudication process for cases involving compensation, minimum wages, maternity benefits, equal pay, and disputes concerning working journalists. This initiative will ensure speedy justice for workers while simplifying legal proceedings.

As part of the broader reforms, the government has also introduced a transparent inspection policy to prevent unnecessary industrial inspections that could hinder business growth. From now on, inspections can only be conducted with prior approval from the Labour Commissioner or a competent authority. Inspectors must notify employers 48 hours in advance and upload their reports to the official portal within the same time frame. Additionally, first-time registered establishments are exempt from inspections for the first year, and those with self-certification will only face inspection once in five years.

These measures, introduced under the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,” aim to protect workers’ rights while building a business-friendly environment in the state. The government hopes the reforms will enhance investor confidence, improve industrial productivity, and provide social security to unorganized sector workers.

With this balanced approach to labour rights and industrial facilitation, Uttar Pradesh is fast emerging as a national benchmark in both employment generation and industrial governance.
