Gonda: A total of 433 couples entered into wedlock at a grand mass marriage ceremony organised under the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme at the Royal Paradise Marriage Hall in Gonda on Tuesday. The event brought together beneficiaries from across the district and was attended by public representatives and senior district officials, who blessed the newlyweds and wished them a happy married life.
According to officials, 526 couples had registered for the programme from various development blocks, municipal councils and nagar panchayats. Of these, marriages of 433 couples were solemnised. The ceremony included 405 Hindu weddings conducted according to traditional rituals and 28 nikah ceremonies performed in accordance with Islamic customs in the presence of religious scholars.
The programme was held in two phases and covered beneficiaries from the district’s three tehsils and 13 development blocks. Authorities ensured smooth arrangements for the large-scale event.
Among those present were Sadar MLA Prateek Bhushan Singh, Mehnaun MLA Vinay Kumar Dwivedi, District Magistrate Priyanka Niranjan, Chief Development Officer Dayanand Prasad, Ramashankar Mishra, representative of the Gonda MP and Union Minister of State for External Affairs, BJP district president Iqbal Bahadur Tiwari, District Development Officer Aditya Tiwari, District Social Welfare Officer Satya Prakash Singh, DC-NRLM J.N. Rao, and other officials.
Under the scheme, each eligible couple receives financial assistance of ₹64,000 along with household essentials to help them begin their married life. The gift package includes a steel dinner set, pressure cooker, wok, five sarees for the bride, a pant-shirt set for the groom, a wall clock, a cosmetics kit and other household items.
