Lucknow: On the occasion of Red Cross Day, the Indian Red Cross Society, Lucknow Branch, under the guidance of District Magistrate and President Vishakh Iyer, adopted 29 tuberculosis (TB) patients from Balrampur Hospital. This humanitarian initiative reflects the society’s commitment to supporting public health and welfare.
In a special event organized at Balrampur Hospital, District Magistrate Vishakh Iyer was welcomed as the Chief Guest and felicitated with a memento by Chairman O.P. Pathak, Secretary Amarnath Mishra, and Treasurer Naveen Gupta. Joint Commissioner of Police Babloo Kumar was also honoured as a Special Guest with a commemorative plaque presented by members Rup Kumar Sharma and Anurag Mishra.

Prominent dignitaries in attendance included Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Director of Balrampur Hospital, Chief Medical Superintendent S.K. Pandey, Dr. Himanshu Chaturvedi, Dr. A.K. Gupta (Chest Specialist), Dr. Usmani, along with Red Cross members Manish Kumar, Jyoti Khare, and Kartik Mathur, who were each presented with a symbolic Red Cross emblem in appreciation of their contributions.
As part of the adoption initiative, the District Magistrate personally handed over nutrition kits to the TB patients, which included:

1 kg roasted gram flour (sattu)

1 kg jaggery

1 kg groundnuts

1 kg roasted chana

1 container of Bournvita
She also interacted with the patients to learn about their health status and enquired about the availability of medical facilities and timely medication. Encouraging them towards recovery, she emphasized the importance of regular checkups and hygienic living to prevent the spread of TB. She commended the Red Cross team for their noble service and urged them to continue such impactful work.
Chairman O.P. Pathak wished all patients a speedy recovery and Secretary Amarnath Mishra informed the gathering that the 29 adopted TB patients will receive free nutritious food supplies for the next six months. Dr. A.K. Gupta, Chest Specialist, shared that all necessary TB medications are provided free of cost, and regular tests are conducted to monitor the patients. He further highlighted the importance of awareness campaigns in preventing the spread of TB within families.
The event witnessed active participation from key members including Anurag Mishra, Rup Kumar Sharma, Manish Kumar, Jyoti Khare, Kartik Mathur, Neeraj Shukla, and Office Secretary Harshit Shukla, who ensured the smooth execution of the programme.
The event marked a significant step in public healthcare outreach, blending compassion with community support, a true reflection of the spirit of the Red Cross.
