Uttar Pradesh Lab Technicians Rejoice as Pay Scale is Upgraded

UP Lab Technician Association thanks CM Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, and senior officials

Lucknow: Lab technicians across Uttar Pradesh have expressed immense satisfaction and gratitude following the state government’s decision to revise their pay scale from ₹2800 to ₹4200. The move is expected to benefit hundreds of lab technicians working across the state’s healthcare sector.

The Uttar Pradesh Lab Technician Association (UPLTA), led by President Suresh Rawat, General Secretary Kamal Kumar Srivastava, and Spokesperson Sunil Kumar, extended their heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and senior administrative officials for addressing their long-pending demand.

According to the Association, the demand for an improved pay scale had been under discussion for a long time. Acting upon the recommendations of the 2016 Pay Committee, the Chief Secretary’s committee has now approved a new structure under which the position of Lab Technician Grade-1 with a grade pay of ₹4200 will be created. These posts will be filled through 50% direct recruitment and 50% through promotions from the existing lab technician cadre.

This move transforms the existing four-tier system into a more efficient three-tier structure:

  • Lab Technician (Grade Pay ₹2800)

  • Lab Technician Grade-1 (Grade Pay ₹4200)

  • Senior Lab Technician (Grade Pay ₹4600)

Once these recommendations are formally implemented, new posts for Lab Technicians in Pay Level-5 (₹29,200 – ₹92,300) will be created within the Department of Medical Health and Family Welfare.

For promotions to the new Level-5 posts, 25% of the positions will be filled from the feeder cadre as long as there are eligible employees in the lower grade. Eventually, all Level-5 posts will be filled through direct recruitment once the feeder cadre is phased out.

Alongside Rawat, Srivastava, and Kumar, other senior members of the Association — including Inspector A.K. Maurya, Mahesh Prasad, and Rajesh Chaudhary — also joined in thanking the government for the long-awaited resolution.
