Bareilly: “The Indian Army’s surgical strike on terrorist camps was essential to boost the morale of the nation. Today’s India is fully capable of giving a befitting reply to any form of attack. Our armed forces are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and resources, ready to face the enemy in any circumstance,” said Lt. Col. (Retd.) Dr. R.P. Singh, Medical Superintendent of SRMS Medical College, in an exclusive interview with Lucknow Tribune.
Commenting on the prevailing situation following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Col. Singh emphasized that the surgical strike aligns with the sentiments of the common citizens and also significantly uplifts the confidence of the armed forces. “Such decisive military action was necessary, not only to dismantle terror infrastructure but also to reassure our people that India will not tolerate aggression,” he noted.
He further stated that the Indian government has already taken significant diplomatic steps, such as scrapping the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, which has left the neighbouring country cornered. “The surgical strike is a strategic move in the same direction to weaken Pakistan’s capabilities,” he added.
Highlighting the need for civic support during times of conflict, Lt. Col. Singh urged citizens to be proactive participants in civil defence. “Everyone must adhere to government-issued protocols. In emergencies, when sirens sound, people must know how to seek shelter or act during a blackout. Elderly citizens would recall the measures taken during the 1972 war. Back then, the entire nation stood united in support of the army.”
He also stressed that panic should be avoided at all costs during emergencies. “Instead, we must fulfill our responsibilities, remain calm, relocate to safer zones if required, and strictly follow administrative guidelines. That will be our biggest contribution to national security and the armed forces.”
