“Chunautiyaan Mujhe Pasand Hai”: Vice President Unveils Governor Anandiben Patel’s Inspiring Biography

Lucknow — In a grand literary and civic ceremony at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University in Lucknow, the  Vice President of India,  Jagdeep Dhankhar, unveiled the biography of Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel titled “Chunautiyaan Mujhe Pasand Hai”. The event, held on International Labour Day, saw the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, Speaker of the Assembly Satish Mahana, spiritual leader Swami Chidanand Saraswati, several cabinet ministers, and a host of dignitaries.

Calling the book “deeply inspirational,” Vice President Dhankhar noted that writing a truthful and reflective biography is never easy, and the Governor’s life story, rich with grit and commitment, will serve as a motivational text for generations. “This is not just a chronicle of the past—it’s a beacon for the future,” he remarked.

Speaking on the role of constitutional authorities, the Vice President emphasized the solemn duty of offices like the President and Governor to uphold and protect the Constitution. He underlined that the Constitution is not meant for confrontation, but for dialogue, debate, and harmony among institutions. “Democracy thrives when expression and debate flourish. However, expression without dialogue can become arrogance—dangerous for individuals and institutions alike,” he warned.

Highlighting recent developments in Indian governance, Dhankhar said India is globally admired today because of its civilizational values, led by examples of integrity and service. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for transforming challenges into opportunities and commended Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for propelling UP’s economy from ₹12.5 lakh crore to nearly ₹30 lakh crore in just eight years. “This is worthy of academic research,” he added.

Governor Anandiben Patel, addressing the gathering, called the day “unforgettable” and thanked the Vice President and all dignitaries for their presence. She noted that the choice of May 1 for the book launch was deliberate, symbolizing International Labour Day and Gujarat Foundation Day—both closely tied to her life journey.

Reflecting on her own life, Governor Patel shared memories of growing up in Gujarat’s Mehsana district in a Gandhian family, stopping her nephew’s child marriage, and saving a student from drowning in the Narmada River—an act that marked the beginning of her public life. She spoke of her rise through the ranks as a teacher, principal, legislator, minister, and Chief Minister of Gujarat, eventually becoming the Governor of the nation’s most populous state.

The Governor emphasized that the book is not just an autobiography but a chronicle of challenges, emotions, and public service—written with the aim of inspiring future generations. “If my journey instills confidence in even one person, I will consider this endeavor meaningful,” she said. She announced that proceeds from the book will be used to support children’s education and healthcare.

The 14 chapters of the book, likened by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to the 14 celestial gems churned from the cosmic ocean in Hindu mythology, chronicle Patel’s life through various phases of resilience and leadership. “Only those who accept challenges rise and shine. Those who run away, scatter,” the CM said, applauding her extraordinary journey from a modest family background to the highest offices of state governance.

Chief Minister Adityanath further praised Governor Patel’s leadership and called the book a source of inspiration for the youth. He noted that it reflects the spirit of hard work, courage, and devotion—values that have shaped her decades of public service.

The spiritual discourse by Swami Chidanand Saraswati added a philosophical dimension to the ceremony, recognizing the inner strength and karmic resolve reflected in the Governor’s life.

As the event concluded, it was clear that “Chunautiyaan Mujhe Pasand Hai” is not just a biography—it is a tribute to perseverance, public service, and the power of individual resolve in the face of adversity. The book stands as a testament to Anandiben Patel’s enduring journey—from a humble upbringing to becoming one of India’s most respected governors.
