Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (UPMRC) is playing a crucial role in the rapid development of metro projects in the country. Currently, UPMRC is spearheading the rapid civil construction of metro networks in Kanpur and Agra, significantly expanding urban mobility in the state. At the 6th Rail Analysis Innovation and Excellence Summit 2025 in New Delhi, the company was recognized for its “Rapid Development of Metro Projects.” C.P. Singh, Director/Works and Infrastructure at UPMRC, accepted the award on behalf of the UPMRC team.

UPMRC is renowned for its innovations, modern approach, and world-class facilities in metro rail infrastructure. Following the success of Lucknow, UPMRC has made public transport more accessible and enjoyable for millions by launching metro services in Kanpur and Agra in record time.
On the occasion, Sushil Kumar, Managing Director of UPMRC, shared, “UPMRC is rapidly advancing civil construction work on the Balance Sections of the Kanpur and Agra Metro Projects. Passenger services will soon be extended from Motijheel to Kanpur Central in Kanpur. Additionally, services from Kanpur Central to Naubasta are also set to begin by the end of this year. UPMRC successfully launched passenger services on the 9 km long Priority Corridor (IIT Kanpur to Motijheel) in just 2 years and 1.5 months—a remarkable achievement. In December last year, we conducted the first Test run of the metro train in the underground section from Motijheel Station to Kanpur Central Station. The construction of Corridor-2 (CSA to Barra-8) is also progressing swiftly. We completed the tunnel work for the Priority Section of the Agra Metro in a record 11 months. By finishing these projects ahead of schedule, we’re not only setting new records but also providing citizens with world-class public transport through our metro services.”
