Lucknow: The date of voting for the by-election to be held in Uttar Pradesh (UP By Election Date) has been changed. Now voting will be held on November 20 instead of November 13. The Election Commission has taken this decision keeping in mind various festivals.
Many parties had demanded to extend the date
According to the Election Commission, the by-elections to be held in many assembly constituencies of UP, Kerala and Punjab will now be extended from November 13 to November 20.
It was told in the order of the Commission that due to Kartik Purnima Snan festival on November 15, Congress, BJP, BSP, RLD and other parties had demanded to extend the date of voting, after which the Commission has decided to change the date.
By-elections will be held on nine assembly seats in UP, which include Ghaziabad, Mirpur, Kundarki, Khair, Karhal, Sismau, Phulpur, Katehari and Majhawan seats. The date of election for the Milkipur seat of Ayodhya has not been announced as the matter is in court. The results of the voting to be held on November 20 will be declared on November 23.
